Mont Tremblant in Canada was one of the most fun places I have ever been to, when I visited with my family. Our Voyageur plane flight, direct from Newark to Mont Tremblant airport was the most relaxing flight I have ever been on.
The airport there looks like an extremely large log hunting cabin and the atmosphere is very relaxed. When you land, you are greeted with free honey wine (a local specialty) and apple juice for the youngsters. You are then put on a bus to whichever hotel you are staying at.
The Fairmont where we stayed was beautiful and felt very foreign, maybe Canadian. Our late night snack in their main restaurant was delicious and our room was beautiful too. The buffet at the restaurant was the biggest I have ever seen, and it goes on for three meals a day. Even the most un-Canadian food like sushi and skewered Japanese chicken were delicious.
And the mountain was pretty amazing too. Though not extremely big, I thought it had some pretty good skiing. My snowboard teacher was very friendly and knew everyone, so riding with her was like a friend than a teacher.
One of the nicest things about the ski resort was that it had good views of lots of forest and felt very natural. Although the mountain was nice, I don’t think it was the main highlight there.
The village at the mountain’s base was fun to walk around and had some great shopping. The snowmobiling tour we went on was fantastic.
But I thought that the food was the main attraction. The Aux Truffes restaurant in the village had absolutely spectacular food. The bison steak and chocolate mouse were particularly good. One night we went to the L’Elephant restaurant that was about five minutes from the resort in the town of Saint Jovite. It had the best food I have ever eaten. The food was beautifully prepared and the combination of flavors was fantastic.
I would like to go back.
