"Incomparable." That is one of many words to be used to describe the ancient city that is Rome; nothing in the world can explain the sensation of being in the center of this diverse, historical metropolis. Walking aimlessly through its worn streets, hearing authentic music and the beautiful words of Romanesco, the dialect of Rome, as you take a turn and see buildings older than you can wrap your mind around is something you just have to experience to understand.

You won't be able to grasp such ancient history in any other way as well as you can in Rome; you're not just seeing it, but being encompassed by it, living it. Take a turn and you see the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, or il Foro Romano, in Italian. You will see other historical and political monuments, including those involving Italy's fascist movement from before and during the Second World War, and also Italian government buildings. One can also explore the Vatican and many churches and religious monuments, like the Scala Santa.
Despite all the history, however, Rome is a global, busy, eccentric city full of culture and full of life! You can zip around on the subway, take a bus, a crazy taxi ride, or conquer the city by foot! Take a stroll down the Via del Corso and shop at local and globally-recognized stores, hear music, see street performers, and enjoy an authentic Italian pizza, followed, of course, by a caffè and a gelato. During the evening, try a relaxed, local restaurant such as La Scaletta degli Artisti at Piazza Navona. The service is great, the servers friendly, and the food is fantastic! After dinner, go get a gelato. (You'll definitely want to try Grom, an incredible gelateria!). Then you can experience the nightlife and buzz of Piazza Navona, with its gleaming fountains and street performers, and maybe even head over to the Spanish Steps or the Trevi Fountain!
If you're into sports, check out a soccer match at the Stadio Olimpico, where you can see SS Lazio or AS Roma, or, if you're lucky enough to experience the greatest rivalry of all sports, both at the same time! Rome is the type of city that will appear in your dreams for the rest of your life in all its glory. Whether on a high budget, low budget, or somewhere in between, this cosmopolitan center is a place to go sometime in one's life. Remember, "All roads lead to Rome!"
