Howdy, y’all! Welcome to Arlington, Texas.  Arlington is a smaller city in between the better-known Dallas and Fort Worth and is the home of the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, Six Flags over Texas, some mean barbeque, and me!

Even though I’m not much of a sports person, I always enjoy a night at the Rangers stadium; the energy from the crowd seeing their team play can turn even a less-than-enthusiastic spectator into a fan. The Texas heat and the stadium’s peanuts, hot dogs, and ices just add to the experience.

The Cowboys’ stadium is also a sight to see, with its colossal video screens, and metal arches larger than the Gateway Arch in St Louis, which support the retractable roof on the outside. One thing is for sure: those cowboys play in style, running through monumental glass doors on the endzones. Even though I still don’t get football (it never really makes sense to me) I can appreciate the grandeur of their architecture.

If you’re into roller coasters, you’re sure to enjoy the whirling, plunging, exhilarating experience of Six Flags. Maybe you’d find thrills on the 32 ½ story Superman, rushing to the sky and falling back to earth at dizzying speeds. Try some of the fun food options available: lots of all-American food and ice cream! And, of course, if you’re gonna be in Texas, you’ll want a cowboy or cowgirl hat!  The latest cowgirl fashions can be found in Six Flags at Texas Sheek!

There are so many awesome sights and places in the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth: the American Airlines center, where you can go to hear a concert or see a fantastic show. Grab a bite at a hole-in –the-wall Mexican restaurant where the food is one-of-a-kind delicious and spicy, and the business is family-run.

The Sheraton, one of the many stately hotels in the area, offers classy and comfortable lodgings. Hotels such as this also offer a venue for local events and celebrations; the Texas Christian Homeschool Prom was one such event. I was one of the nearly thousand students who are wowed every year.

One of my favorite local places is downtown Fort Worth; you can go to the rodeo with clowns, horse-riders performing unbelievable feats, and see some bullriding! You could see a cattle drive, and watch as the longhorns are brought through the city. You may very well enjoy wandering among the historic buildings and seeing something old that is new to you! When my family makes a visit, we make sure to get lost in the cattle pen maze; competing for the best time, and trying to win a prize!

Once you’re tired of the walking or the heat, have seen enough of the sights and made some awesome new memories, you’ll probably be ready for a feast! Let me tell you, Risckys’ Barbeque does Texas eatin’ right! You start with a totally Texan appetizer; try the stuffed Jalapenos or the Texas Mess. If you want something different go for the fried pickles! If the choice of awesome western entrees overwhelms you, take my advice; opt for the all-you-can-eat beef ribs, with a delicious rub; I love to smother them with barbeque sauce, then compete with family members to see who can make a family record for the most ribs! (Last time I won.)

I hope you enjoyed your short journey into my world; I love my hot-n-spicy hometown, and I hope that if you ever come to visit, you will too!  Happy travels!!
