Martinique family vacations certainly include sun ‘n’ sand and a splash of French culture, but there are also plenty of other activities, especially for preschoolers. Martinique really is the perfect destination for parents vacationing with younger children. In addition to the appeal of sun and beach, there are many options for sports and recreation and, to top it off, the opportunity for all ages to practice their French with the friendly locals. For more information on attractions and lodging, visit the Martinique Tourism Authority. Now, presenting some of our favorite attractions:

Great Fun for the Kids

(Toddler to Age 8)

Aquabulle
Boulevard Allegre Port de Plaisance
97200 Le Marin
596 (0) 5 96 74 69 69
At the Marina du Marin hop on board one of the two yellow mono-hulls and come discover the magical underwater world from the shaded comfort of these glass bottom boats. Get an insider’s view of what life is like at 5 feet below sea level, as if you were inside a moving aquarium. Kids just love it. Another tour option anchors above a reef, where you can dive in a snorkel with the fishes.  Cocktails and drinks are offered for parents, and snacks for all.

Le Village Des Enfants
Chateau Gaillard
Les Trois-Ilets
06 96 200 400
This place offers many staff-run activities for toddlers through children up to 16-years; kids will enjoy aquatic attractions, trampolines, adventure playgrounds, sports, hikes and more.

Martinique Fun for Older Children

(up to age 18)

Golf Club
Golf de la Martinique
Les Trois-Ilets
+ 596 (0) 596 68 32 81
During the summer vacation golf is available for kids from 6 – 16. Tennis is also available for kids and teens.  This club has special children’s training programs with English-speaking instructors, as well as tennis programs.

Aqualand Martinique
Route des Pitons
Le Carbet
05 96 78 40 00
Located at the feet of the Carbet peaks, just north of Fort-de-France, this is a great place where you can spend a day having fun and getting wet. Kids will enjoy aquatic attractions, toboggans, swings, rock climbing and more. The French tradition of delicious fast food includes crepes and salads. The Black Hole, which winds through total darkness, is sure to thrill. Please check their website as the waterpark is closing for renovation.

Fun for the Whole Family in Martinique

Maya Beach Club
Plage de l’Hotel Caritan
Sainte – Anne
06 96 91 56 61
This aquatic park is a great place for a wet day. Maya Beach Club provides one of the best watersports attractions on the island; it offers water trampolines, waterslides, floating swings, climbing walls, kayak and boat rentals, and more. You can buy tickets for an hour, a half-day or a full day. For a full day, rates run 21 €/adult and 20 €/children. In addition, a babysitting service is available for children under 5-years-old.

Mangofil
Foret Rateau
Les Trois-Ilets
05 96 68 08 08
Mongofil is a huge children’s theme park. Activities include sports and adventure games. One of Mongofil’s most popular attractions is an adventure trail along catwalks through the trees at Trois-Ilets. Here you can safely glide from tree to tree along zip lines — cables strung through the rainforest. It’s perfect for brave kids and adults, and not too physically taxing.

Les Ateliers Medelices
Les Ateliers Medelices provides a window into the world of food in Martinique through their six workshops.  The family can cook with Jean-Charles Bredas, who offers three culinary events to choose from.  One option is to create your own menu, which takes place from 9:30am to 2:00pm.  If the family wants a shorter cooking adventure, you can make an appetizer from 10:30am to 12pm.  If you would like to learn more about an existing recipe, bring the family to cook one of the chef’s recipes.  If the family does not want to cook, but would still like to learn more about the food in Martinique, there are other three other activities to choose from. The family can discover how the food is grown before preparation by looking at and tasting the mushrooms of Martinique or by visiting a farm in the north.  Lastly, in southern Martinique, there is an opportunity to view a luxury creole garden with tropical fruits.
