St. Louis Family Vacation - My Family Travels

ST. Louis

Just a few months ago my family and I took a so called vacation. Vacations in my mind, were supposed to be fun, action packed and full of adventure. But unfortunately this trip was everything but that. My family and I visited St. Louis, Missouri for the very first time. We have a lot of family that live there that we haven’t seen in a long time so we decided to pay them a visit.
My mother decided to make us fly to St.Louis, even though she knew I was afraid of heights. She had already bought the tickets before she told me that we were flying. I was so traumatized when I found that we were flying. My mother thought that I could get over my fears that way. As we boarded the plan I was very anxious and nervous, but as we got in the air it wasn’t so bad. It was quite fun and relaxing.
The trouble began as soon as we got off our flight landing in St. Louis. To begin with we couldn’t spend the night with my family because of an issue in their household. Such as violence, fighting, and disputes between, brothers, sisters, uncles, cousins, basically the whole family. For example, my cousin and his sister argued about who urinated on the bathroom floor. I thought two adults arguing over such a small incident that minor was hilarious.
My grandmother was so upset and embarrassed that this happened while we were there. My mother wanted to shield me and my brother from that type of negative energy that was basically violence. So we left my grandmothers house and went back and stayed at the hotel for the remaining of the night.
But once we arrived at the hotel the fun began. My mother, brother, and I began to have a blast. We didn’t want to order room service so we had snuck snacks into the hotel, even though they were gone after a few hours. We were still hungry and bored miserably out of our minds until my little brother came up with a brilliant idea. His idea was to find some more food. We went into the hotel’s lobby and we saw what looked like a family reunion. There was a sign that read “Johnson’s Family Vacation 2009”. So my little brother and I pretended to be a Johnson. We meet a lot of strangers and people that really thought that we really were related to them. They made us feel real comfortable and safe. They even asked us if we enjoyed their barbequed food that they had cooked. We said, “No not yet”. The Johnson’s replied,” go help yourselves”, and that’s what we did. We ate a lot of food, and the food was really delicious. We were really full and decided to go back and tell our mother what happened to us, and to bring her a plate. We told our mother what just happened and she was crying in laughter.
It was getting late and me and my family was still bored. We thought and we thought about something to do to keep us occupied, but we couldn’t. We just sat around watching TV and just having family time. We even played uno and tic tac toe. We just enjoyed our times by ourselves.
We all thought that the trip was terrible, but in all actuality the family vacation at the hotel with my brother and mother, playing games, laughing, and eating together, and me overcoming my fear of heights made the trip a beautiful time for us as a family to bond and come closer together.
