Family Travel Forum Teen Travel Writing Scholarship Grand Prize

We are excited to announce that the First Place Winner of the 2012 Family Travel Forum Teen Travel Writing Scholarship ("FTF TTW Scholarship") will receive, in addition to a $1000 cash grant, a theme park vacation at Universal Orlando Resort.*

What better way to reward all your hard work at school this year, than with a three-night, four-day vacation for your family of four to experience the incredible thrills and entertainment that Universal Orlando Resort has to offer.

This prize includes airfare for four from anywhere in the US to Orlando, Florida! The prize also includes a stay at one of Universal Orlando’s three on-site hotels, where you’ll receive complimentary Universal Express access to bypass the regular lines at participating rides and attractions.

You won’t have to worry about younger siblings or grandparents if you choose to invite them; in addition to great thrill rides such as Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit and The Incredible Hulk coaster, both of Universal Orlando’s award-winning theme parks have attractions appropriate for all ages!  

The prize includes transportation to and from the Orlando International Airport, as well as complimentary transportation from the hotel to the heart of Universal Orlando Resort!

What’s Included: Family Vacation at Universal Orlando Resort*

• Round trip, coach class air transportation from the major airport closest to winner's home+, within the 50 United States, to Orlando, Florida.  Winner will be responsible for ground transportation to/from the airport at point of origin.  
• Three nights and four consecutive days in one room (room and tax only) for up to four people at one of Universal’s Orlando’s on-site hotels as selected by Universal. Please note that hotel accommodations do not include meals, incidentals, tips, telephone calls, or any other personal expenses incurred during the trip, not specified here.
• Ground transportation to and from airport in Orlando to hotel and Universal Orlando Resort.
• Complimentary four-day/two-park passes for four people for admission to both Universal Studios Florida and Universal's Islands of Adventure theme parks.

+ In the event the Grand Prize winner resides in Florida, airfare and ground transportation portions of each Grand Prize Consumer package may be substituted with another method of transportation to be selected by Universal in its sole discretion.

* All elements of the prize package will be determined in sole discretion by Universal Orlando Resort.

Eligibility Rules & Important Information for the FTF TTW Grand Prize Recipient

PLEASE NOTE: The FTF TTW Scholarship Winners will be announced in early November, 2012 and the First Place Winner will be responsible for notifying Family Travel Forum Inc of his or her eligibility for the Grand Prize Vacation within two weeks. 

*Only residents of the United States are eligible to accept the Grand Prize Vacation from Universal Orlando.   The UO Grand Prize must be awarded by November 30, 2012 and travel must be completed no later than November 30, 2013.

Travel Arrangements:  Blockout dates or other restrictions may apply as dictated by airline and/or hotel and Universal Orlando Resort. Winner travel arrangements must be made a minimum of sixty (60) days prior to winner travel and are subject to availability. All elements of the Grand Prize must be booked and redeemed at the same time, and no changes shall be permitted after confirmation. If winner is unable to fulfill prize during time period, winner forfeits the prize package. Winner must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who is at least 21 years of age, in order to check in to on-site hotel. Minor traveling companion(s), if any, must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Trips are non-transferable and have no cash value. All unclaimed and/or unused prize packages will remain the property of Universal Orlando. Winner and guests must travel at the same time and must depart from the same city and travel on the same itinerary.

UniversalOrlando  Theme ParkTickets:  There will be block-out periods during which tickets and the prize vacation package are not valid. These periods include December 21 – 31, 2012, March 11 – April 10, 2013 and July 1 – 31, 2013. All the tickets are valid during normal operating hours only. Operating hours and availability of attractions and shows are subject to change without notice. Some special events may be separately ticketed. Universal reserves the right to change the name of all tickets. All tickets specifically exclude admission to special or separately ticketed entertainment events at either of the theme parks, hotels, or within any of the Universal CityWalk venues such as Hard Rock Live® and Blue Man Group.

Notification:  Family Travel Forum will contact the First Place winner by phone and/or email to advise winner that he or she has won the $1000 cash prize and the Grand Prize Universal Orlando Resort Vacation Package and will require an executed Affidavit of Eligibility, Publicity Release and Prize Release prior to acceptance of the Grand Prize.
