If your family is yearning to explore every fantasy the Orlando themeparks have to offer, when you’d prefer that the kids were more focused on helping others, consider a volunteer vacation. Now you can mashup the hotel, Spider Man, Hogwarts Castle and more fun places to play at Universal Orlando Resort with giving back in meaningful ways at Give Kids the World, an Orlando charity.
Families with children age 8 and older will be interested in this Universal’s volunteering partnership which enables those who book at least three nights at one of their partner hotels to participate in a four-hour shift under supervision, and really make a difference together.
In the past few years, we have seen interest in family volunteer opportunities expanding so that even Orlando party-goers, be they visiting conventioneers or vacationing families, can schedule a day to help out and give back.
Give Kids the World is an organization that works with volunteers in 1,400 weekly shifts of three hours each. Corporate volunteers come in large groups for team building and community service and more than 10,000 corporate employees volunteered in team building experiences in 2012.
Since families also seek opportunities to give back on vacation, they developed this new initiative with Universal Orlando. Most hotel guests sign up for a 4-hour shift where parents help their kids to garden, serve breakfast, or do whatever is needed. Children age 16 and older can volunteer by themselves. College kids have become a new source of assistance; we heard that previous year’s spring breaks sold out with university students interested in doing something meaningful.
Volunteer vacation on-site hotel vacations start at $205 per adult, per night, tax inclusive. Booking is valid from now until 12/14/17, valid for travel from 5/25/17.
The package includes a 3-day Park-to-Park ticket, and, finally, you can beat those long lines you’ve been hearing about at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and other rides because this package offers guests the benefit of early park admission (one hour before the theme park opens)
This season, check out this and other Universal Orlando Resort vacation offers and start your kids on a lifetime of giving back to the communities they visit.
