My Trip to Greece - My Family Travels

Greece, Greece, Greece, oh you bittersweet Greece! As I lay my eyes upon you, I see the curves of a lady, the strength of a man, and the humbleness of a child. But I too see and hear that soft lullaby blowing in the trees and being whispered from hill to hill saying, ‘Your time is almost up, farewell.’ But how can a lover say goodbye to his love, or the sun depart from the sky? Is it possible to separate honey from a bear, or the lips of a young bride from her groom? Such feats are impossible. Therefore, neither can my soul be separated from this land.I am but a stranger to her, but she has captivated my heart in a way I cannot break free.

She sings at night and dances just to see me smile. I hear her now, gaily singing the song I have come to love and it breaks my heart that soon it will turn to silence. I now realize where beauty comes from and have grown addicted helplessly to it.

My mind grows with color every time my eyes dare to blink, and words are unable to describe what I have seen. For instance, the love and passion between the mountain and the sea, one drawing nearer to the other, both moving as one, or the beautiful olive trees covered ever so slightly in silver, reflecting the sun’s rays when the wind blows.God hold my heart for I feel it will burst if I continue. All the artists in the world pale in comparison to what you have made and this has entrance me.

So I sincerely ask you to bring comfort to my heart, lest this separation kill it. But instead, bring it hope that one day it shall lay eyes on its love again, this beautiful land named Greece.
