Wow it’s been five years since i last came home to my family. It has been five years since I got a chance to smell the fresh air. Excuse me for my rudeness, Salutations my name is Maxcine Swaby. I’m 16. My family are descendents of Jamaica. Like i have mentioned before it has been five years since they last saw me and now I am all grown up. I wonder what it’s going to be like and who I am going to meet. That was all that was running through my mind when I was boarding the plane. All day long i could not stop thinking about what my family was going to say. Well this trip was very awkward for me because I was sitting on the plane. Aside me to my left was my little brother, Maxwell and my father. And to my right was my math teacher. In which i hated so very much it was weird for me to see her outside of school. I felt so bad already because I was flying down to see my aunt who just had her left breast removed in a 24 hour operation. Then i had to deal with my teacher telling my father of my social antics in her classroom and my lack of turning in homework.
What a vacation. When we landed finally almost four hours later…and after we had cleared six bags of luggage…and after we had hauled them outside..we heard some one yelling swaby swaby swaby!! It was a man my father had spoken to on the phone to help up transport from Montego Bay to Mandeville. That is where my family lives. I don’t mind seeing my family, except it was about 7 pm and there aren’t any street lights and by the time we get to them it will be 11 pm!! I could not stand it any longer. Our radio wasn’t worked and i had to listen to my father and his old friend catch up on lost years. What a trip..luckily i had bought my ipod along with me.
On a positive side we reached our destination finally and we ate kentucky fried chicken and trust me it tastes ten thousand times better than back in new york city. A few days pass and my family keeps telling me how tall i have gotten and how plump and pretty i was blah blah blah. I couldn’t stand it any longer i wanted to see my aunt. Finally the operation was a success. She is now cancer-free. I am happy and my vacation was a blast. Oh yeah remind me never ever ever to travel into darkness again and a word of advice. Ask your teacher where they are going for mid-winter recess! Ciao.
