Sound of America Choir Tour of Europe - My Family Travels
The Trip of My Life

During the summer of 2007, I traveled through 6 European Countries on a choir tour with the Sound of America Honor Chorus.  During this trip, there were so many spectacular things that I was able to see and so many  amazing people that I was able to meet.  I had the time of my life this was by far the greatest life-changing event that has ever happened to me.

To begin my tour with SOA, we trained and practiced in Elizabethtown, PA for a week before heading to Europe.  After arriving in Frankfurt, Germany, my new companions and I were able to experience some of Germany’s oldest cultural traditions and stay in and fortressed city called Rothenburg.  Then, after some street performances, we headed into Bavaria (southern Germany) and visited Neuschwanstein Castle, which was where the Cinderella castle originally got its design from.  Next, we traveled south into Austria where we experienced more culture and had a traditional “Tyrolean Evening,” complete with yoddlers.

The first portion of my tour was over, and we headed farther south into Italy, where I got to have the opportunity to celebrate my birthday in Venice, exploring the city by gondola in the moonlit evening.   Then, we gathered our things and moved on our way back up into Switzerland, where grueling, snowy passes lied ahead of us.  We arrived in Grindelwald the next day.  It had to be the most calming and relaxing village I have ever been in.  We rode the cable cars up the mountains, hiked, and sang for an amazing group of people.  Next, we traveled into Paris, France, home to the Eiffel Tower and many other wonderful sites.  Paris was a great place to be and it really was amazing to experience it with my new friends from SOA.  Our final concert took place in Luxembourg at a really fancy concert hall, and it was probably the saddest concert of my life because I knew I would have to leave all of my new friends soon.

The concert was a huge success and the trip was the most amazing thing I have ever experienced.  I was able to learn about popular European cultures, meet great new friends, and sing with other amazing musicians from across America.  The Sound of America trip of 2007 truely impacted my life forever!
