Every since I was little girl I had always wished to go to a place, where I could step into a beach and actually  be able to see my feet underneath crystal blue water.  In this vacation I did not just get my wish come true, but I also got a chance to learn many things I didn’t realize before.  This year was no ordinary vacation for me.  It was a vacation trip that made me open my eyes and made me change the way I thought about things.

This year my family and I went to the Punta Cana, which is in the Dominican Republic.  This city is amazing not only are the people just so kind and friendly but they make you feel at home.  I got a chance to stay in a beautiful resort called Riu Bambu.  As soon as you walked in the resort my eyes popped and my jaw would just drop.  I had never seen such a beautiful place. The main lobby was decorated beautifully with many plants that would illuminate the entrance. If you walked straight ahead past the lobby, right in front of you would be the beach, which would feel like you were walking straight into one of those post cards that have a beautiful beach on the front, except this time you could acutally feel and see everything in real life. If you turned to the right there would be an enormous pool which had a jazcuzzi and a sit-in bar.  The pool was decorated beautifully as well.  Now, if you turned to the left you would find a restaurant called Colonial restaurant.  In total there was two restaurants that would serve you breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday. Not only was the resort gorgeous, but the food was so colorful and incredibly good.

Going to the Dominican Republic meant a lot to me because I got a chance to see my uncle who I had not seen in 9 years.  He had basically lived with me since I was young but had to move back to the Dominican Republic.  Since he lived there, he took my family and I to many different places.  As we would leave the resort to go visit the capital, Santo Domingo,or some place else; you would pass through really bad neighborhoods, see damages of some places, and see many young kids just walking around asking for money, selling things, and even digging through trash cans to find something to eat.  Before, I wouldn’t quite understand why my parents would tell me: “finish your food.”  Before I would just want to throw it away because I was not hungry, or when they would say there are many kids that are not as lucky as you are.  Being able to see this right in front of my face for the very first time, made me realize and understand what my parents had been telling me before.  There are many people in the world that just throw away food for no reason and it’s sad, beacuse it could save many people’s life.  That is why now i have learned to change and I teach others especially my little cousins, even some adults to think twice about throwing away food for no reason, and to think about how there are many people starving and you are just throwing away food.  This trip insipired me to want to take action and strat food drives or raise awareness about hunger.  This was a marvelous experience that i will never regret.
