True Vacation - My Family Travels

Every year, since the sixth grade, I go to summer camp with my church. The whole reason for summer camp is to get away from our normal lives and grow closer to the lord in fellowship with the others from church. I always had fun but I don’t believe I ever grasped the concept of fellowship. That changed in the summer of two thousand and seven.

My youth group and I went camping at San Onofre Beach in San Diego. We camped out there for a week. At first I was there to have fun just like every other church camp. My friend Becca came along as well and I thought that I would spend all my time with her, but we ended up spending much less time together than we thought. We both met several new people and became friends with just about everyone. I never bothered to actually listen to the pastors when they were giving their speeches, I would try but I did not know what they were talking about so I chose to talk with my friends instead. After spending so much time talking about god with my new friends they taught me so much that I was now closer to the lord than ever before. I decided to truly listen to what my pastor was teaching us and I learned something. I need to be alive in Christ and I needed to be reborn.

The pastor gave a baptism in the ocean that week, although I had been baptized before when I was young, I decided to get baptized again. This time I knew what I was getting myself into. I truly understood what it meant to live in Christ and die in the flesh. When I was baptized my spirit was reborn and now I am immortal. When my body dies my soul will live forever in the kingdom of god.  Ever since that day I’ve improved my life style. Now I have morals, values and goals in life. I am also not afraid to speak my mind. I am willing to tell people about god. Overall I am a better person. I do not give into sin or peer pressure. Before I was always seeking help from others and never gave anything back, now I am a good influence and I can help others who need my help.

Being Christian and truly living a Christian life style has also taught me to love life and be thankful for everything I have. There are various wonderful opportunities given to me so that I can have a good life, I have a chance to go to college to get a good career and to be successful and happy in life. I am always going to take whatever offers I am given and use what I learn it to its full potential.
