Traveling the World

     During my life, I have been to many different places at many different times.  Each time I have been to a new place, I always bring something from that culture back with me.  Whenever in a new environment, you have to remember that they may not be as lucky as us here in the United States.  When seeing the new cultures and things that the people live in, I realized how different it is than here in our own country and really how lucky we are.
     Each year, my family and I take a cruise to the Caribbean Islands and we visit new ones.  It is like total culture shock there.  One island that particularly stuck out in my head was Antigua.  When we visit the islands, we actually get to interact with the people, so I can actually get the experience.  When visiting Antigua, I had an interesting experience.  We got there and got off the ship and walked around the island with a group of others.  While walking around, you can just see how run down and poor the island is.  There are people there who just walk around wearing what they have on their backs, and that is all the clothes they have, nothing else.  They come up to you and ask you for money.  However, you can’t give it to them because if you give it to one, you have it give it to all of the people.  
     Being to all of the different islands in the Caribbean has showed me how living here in the United States, we actually do have so much more freedom and things rather than the other places in the world.  We really are a lucky country.  There are some people out there who don’t see that and who take that for granted. I think that everyone should be able to see or actually experience something like what I did and be able to realize how lucky we really have it here in the United States.  If we lived anywhere else, I don’t think people could handle it.
