As the sun shined through the mini blinds,
I was awakened by the voices of laughter and “chitter chatter”
Voices that shared my same excitement for the festivities that would take place in the latter
Part of the day in which we would board a ship for a cruise
A “win win” situation for everyone so no one could lose
It would be my second voyage, my 1st wasn’t the best
So as a teenager I purposed to enjoy every minute and rarely rest
As I put on the outfit I planned to wear, I looked in the mirror gave myself a check
Like the symbol on Nike sneakers that let you know your shoes are fresh
My family later piled into our transports, vehicles you could call them
We had to get in more than one, our family filled them to the brim
There were my Godparents and their son and his friend named Sammy
Who tagged along with us because he was just like family
Next were my parents, brother, and my grandma just for kicks
And I could never forget about her sister, she’s made me laugh since I was a kid
With our transports loaded, we left for the ship
Leaving O.P. Florida in the dust but we’d be back in a bit
After a couple hours, we reached the ship’s docks
For ships there was Disney, Carnival, and others, but bottom line, there was a lot.
My fun would take place in Carnival’s, just like my first trip
But this time would be different, more than just a major event
As we prepared to load the ship, the guys joked that they wouldn’t tire
How they’d party from night to morn, and boast of numbers they’d acquire
But alas we loaded the ship and made our way to our rooms
As usual, I was with my parents, an already known doom
But the guys and I plotted with quickness, what I’d call a master plot
To get our parents to let us room together, a bad idea is what they thought
But anyway, we decided to handle the most important things first
Unpacking the essentials like our “flyest” shoes and shirts
And locating the cafeteria and the workers that we’d coerce
Into giving us extra sandwiches and of mayonnaise another squirt (Lol- I really guess I really like mayo)
From there we stuffed our faces and slept until the moon replaced the sun
Because we knew that was when all of the parties really begun
Like the one in the club for teens cleverly called “O2”
Where all teens could gather and dance if they chose to
There was no greater pleasure than grooving the latest hits
And scurrying to our rooms after, before our parents threw a fit
The next day we hit land, an understatement for a paradise
A place so beautiful, it was wayyyyy past nice
I would soon know this place as the Caribbean, which had it’s own beat
Once on land we walked the strip and smiled at people we’d come to meet
And eventually hit the beach, the only way to beat the heat. (It was a scorcher! Lol)
After we had our fill of the island and had inhaled it air and all is splendor
We made our way to the ship only after taking 100’s of pictures
So that we could later reminisce on experience we’d always remember……..
After leaving our beautiful paradise, I enjoyed the rest of my vacation to its best
Looking out the window at paradise, and smiling happily as I left.
