One of my favorite traveling experiences is when my family drive down to Eureka California for my Aunt Eko’s wedding. On the way to Eureka we stopped a lot along the Oregon and Californian coast. It was so beautiful. All the seaweed on the rocks looked so green and slimy and they added to the rustic look of the beach. We found an old dock with lots of starfish and see anemones around it. We looked for crabs, starfish and sea anemones.

We went to an ocean museum in California and saw many extinct fish skeletons and fossils. Four of my mom’s 5 brothers came down from Vancouver Washington for the wedding and we had such a good time. After the wedding we went to the red wood forest south of Eureka.  We went on a really long hike through the forest. I had never seen the red woods so I was completely shocked at how big they were. I loved the stringy feeling of the bark and the rustic look of the trees. I enjoyed this trip immensely and I had so much fun being with my family at the wedding and exploring the coast and the red woods. It did not work to drive a long time and not take breaks to let my little brother run around and play. It worked it stop every hour or two to let him run around. It also worked to have him watch DVDs on the DVD player.

I learned that when you touch a sea anemone and it fills stick, it is actually little poison darts. I learned that these poison darts are harmless to humans. I leaned that the Oregon and California coast are a lot more beautiful than the Washington coast. I had always known that the red woods were huge but on this trip I leaned just how big they really are. I learned that it is illegal to take baby red wood trees from the forest and that people actually try to take them. I learned this when we were at a rocky beach of a river in the redwood forest and a ranger came by to sea what we were doing and he explained the tree steeling crime. I was shocked that people would try to take the red wood trees. The trip changed me because I got to visit with my family whom I don’t get to see very often. I will always remember this trip and the great time I had with my family and everything we did.
