I was born in Haiti; since 9 years old I always want to know a new country and their culture. My father who worked in a international company Carnival cruise Line was about to make that dream come true for me.When I was 12 years old my daddy fill for a cruise ship vacation in his current job and we were accept. My mother, my both sisters and me, went to the American counsular and we was granted a visa 4 month. We had schedul our voyage between the 1st and 2nd August 2003. In the morning of the 1st August I was very eager; my bag was the first to be done I dress up first, then everybody was ready all our bags were done. We went to the haitan airport check our visa and our plane ticket. After all that we get in the plane “Air D’Haiti” they served us food. In about 1 hour in half we were in the United State of America. They check us in gave us an I-94 for 6 months. My family and I went to an apartment in Miami Forida 2 ave Ne 25 St $ 400 a week.
My dad who uses to come to Miami was our guide. We went to bayside it was fun there was a small park where I get in an Apple ride game, then with a binaucular I watch every the little cruise ship at the dock. I dance, everything was fun. My family and me, we went to the movies. It was the first time in my life that I was so happy. I went shopping, bought video games clothes and shoes. We even went to a party one of my dad’s friend’s kid birthday. She was very cute. In the apartment we living there was some Indians and Spanish they invite us to the beach. We all went to Miami Beach. It was fun to play in the beach, the salt water caress my nose with a salty aroma bringing all the joy that those who on the beach feel. I feel every good sentiment in my life. As haitan this was the first time that I get in a train it was everything I could not imagine. At home my mom shares our cuisine with the Indian and the Spanish. They compliment my mom about her creole cooking where the food was so good you could say that it from heaven. We went to Miami downtown, I walked in every mall there is and every shop. A couple in their 60 was the vendors they asked my sister about her future career she said doctor and me to so they gave us each a stethoscope.
Going to United States made me realize how big the world around me is the Haitan culture in America culture are very different. Most of Americans like chiken and Haitans like rice it is not only that but their society is more advanced than ours talking about technology level. This trip was a good experience for me. It will not only affect my social life but my future life also. This voyage had so much impact in my life that it made me work more at school were know I want to be somebody to bring something good to this world. Our Problem is due to our ignorance of the people around us in this planet..
