Tears flushed heavily through my eyes as I finally realized that ‘My life is meaningful. I do have a great purpose for living. Now, nothing is going to get in my way from living life to its fullest.’ I attended the Global Youth Leadership Summit Program in San Diego last summer. It was undeniably a significant chapter in my life. I strongly urge anyone to attend this event which is sponsored by the Anthony Robbins Foundation. I know this will change your life too. At first, I wasn’t sure about attending it, but afterwards, it was simply wonderful, and I learned so much from that trip than ever.

I live in California and I’ve never really traveled. But I won this free trip because of my proficient grades. But at first, I had a frequent uneasy feeling. Nonetheless, I am defiantly proud of myself for actually going. As soon as I stepped onto the campus, I new this was going to be an amazing 5 days. The first activity included an aquarium. It was great because I had already made so many kind and extraordinary friends. The aquarium was very interesting because of the different areas. Ultimately, nothing was dull throughout that activity.

Anon, we were placed into our teams. I was placed into the amazing Team 9 Dream Catchers. We had so much fun together. There was so much cooperation within the team, that all of the competitions were easily completed and very enjoyable.

One of the most unforgettable activities was the board breaking activity. On a wooden board, we wrote down everything that was keeping us from reaching our goals. On my board, I wrote ‘Fear. Insecurity. Discourage. Melancholy.’ We were to break apart that board with those horrendous words written on. I was definitely anxious to break apart that unbearable board with all my might. I balled up my fist and hit it with valor. Those negative words seemed to disappear away from my life.

Moreover, one of the best events was the tree planting event. We left an everlasting mark on the college with those healthy trees. The trees help out the environment and also look beautiful on the campus.

Within the next five days, we had many more activities, parties, intellectual speeches, and events. We had a large range of speakers from plane crash survivors, to deaf comedians. Yet, they were all simply amazing speakers. Although their speeches were hours long, I was never once uninterested. It was those speeches that were truly the most meaningful to me. They told to us about the necessity to be a leader in our lives order to serve.

Their words were truly inspiring and beautiful. I’ve never heard speeches like theirs. This was when my eyes flushed with tears. I hadn’t felt so good in years because I was faced with traumatic events in the past. Yet, they helped me to realize what really matters on this planet and the significance of life itself.

Now I have a new way of looking at the world and at life. If I want to change something, without doubt, I know that I have the power to do so. Furthermore, I now know that there really are kind and honest people on this earth. I didn’t realize all that until I traveled to the Global Youth Leadership Summit. I strongly believe in optimism and every day is a gift for everyone.

“Now I am the voice. I will lead not follow. I will believe not doubt. I will create, not destroy. I am a force for good!”
