Last March my family and I went on a week long cruise to the Caribbean islands. The ship we sailed on was the Carnival Destiny. Besides just traveling with my mom, dad and siblings we also traveled with my grandma and grandpa. The ship departed from Puerto Rico and the ports of call were St. Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, St. Kitts, Antigua and St. Marteen.
My family and I visited many islands. The first island we went to was St. Thomas. That was fun because that was a lot of shopping and shopping is my hobby. While in St. Thomas I bought a Gucci bag. The second island that we visited was Dominica. That was one of my two favorite. It was one of my favorite because it was all natural. It was very different from a regular suburban or urban neighborhood. While on the island I walked through a rainforest and I climbed a beautiful waterfall. I learned different things while I was there.
My other favorite island was Barbados. Barbados was the most cleanly and well taken care of island. The people there were very nice and gave the tourists there space. While in Barbados I relaxed on the beach, I got my hair braded and I got to Jet Ski with my brother for the first time. I loved the white powder sand and the hot sun. I also visited Antigua and St. Marteen. They were basically the same type of islands, mainly beach and shopping. The last island I went to was St. Kitts. St. Kitts was a rural area. There were wild farm animals that just ran all over the island. One animal that I saw a lot of were monkeys. That was really cool. This trip meant a lot to me. I was very fortunate to be able to see this many islands but the best thing was not only did I get to share this experience with my family but also my grandparents.
This trip pretty much worked out. Nothing stood out about the trip that didn’t work out. Everybody got along and we did things that everybody wanted to do. My family and I all got to try new things. Of course some things and islands were more fun then others but that goes for anything you do. We even got good weather for the week. I would say that this trip did affect me a little bit. After seeing how the people on the islands live and how I live back at home it is very different. On the islands there is not a lot of money. Of course there are a few nice parts of the islands but for the most part it is very run down. The people don’t wear the nicest of close and they argue with each other about giving the tourists there services.
Just seeing how different it is it makes you realize how good you have something. Usually you don’t realize how good something is until you don’t have it anymore. However I got to see what the hard life is about and I realize that my life is a really good one.
This cruise was the best vacation I’d say I have been on. I enjoyed seeing different islands, different cultures, different ways of life and just different people. It was also wonderful to be able to do new things and be able to spend time with my family.
