Del Mar Fair! | My Family Travels

Del Mar Fair
Have you ever been to a place that was very exciting and special to you? I have, and it was going to the fair with my best friends and family. I had so much fun, which means I have a lot to tell you about.
It all started on the 7th of April. My mom told me that her, my brother Mattheau and I were all going to the Del Mar fair with my best friend Paisley, Paisley’s sister Jessica, and my other best friend Kyle. The Del Mar fairgrounds was strictly made for the year round fair the city always held so it was a huge place. People from all sides of Del Mar would come in and enjoy the food and fast rides that Del Mar offered. After being so antsy and inpatient my mom, Mattheau, and I went to go and pick up Kyle from Poway Kenpo where Kyle has karate practice. Paisley and Jessica rode in their own car. Kyle and I had so much fun in the back seat just playing around and goofing off, until we arrived. Kyle and I rushed out the car toward the ticket collector where when we managed to get past him we strolled through the golden gates.
The first thing we all wanted to do once everyone got through the gates was to ride on the rides. So as we walked around while we went on the rides worthy of our adrenaline. One ride that my brother and I went on took us in so many loops and circles, we thought our heads were screwed on backwards when the ride was over. But there was one ride that was the fastest of them all; the Mega Drop. All six of us stared as the rides next victims’ slowly went straight up. This ride was a boxlike ride that had seats wrapped all around it. The ride took you slowly up then quickly straight down at speeds up to 65 miles per hour! I was the roller coaster expert but this was murder. I told myself there was no way I was getting on this ride, when 10 minutes later I was sitting on the Mega Drop.
It was me, my mom, Kyle, Mattheau, and Paisley all strapped in and ready to go. Jessica’s “head was hurting” so she did not come with us, but she took pictures. As the Mega Drop took us up I thought to myself, I will never forgive my mom for making me go on this thing. There was supposed to be a man that counts the drop but we were so high up we didn’t hear. Or he didn’t count at all. Sitting at the top I could see the whole fairgrounds; which was pretty big. I started to breathe hard due to anxiety so I tried to slow my breathing down so I could…SCHICK!!
The brakes were released and we were going down! My stomach felt as if it were hugging my heart trying to hold on. Just when you thought the weird feeling in your stomach was going to be over; it kept going. Then SCHICK! The ride slowed and it was over. When the ride came to a complete stop, and my stomach let go, I felt better. That day I learned that you should face your fears because you make it seem worse than it really is. That day, the ride changed me because it taught me to never skip out on something you haven’t tried.
