Adventure, an experience, a life lesson, and a journey. USA to England, present to past, England to the USA. Round trip of 6,000 miles, across the pond known as the Atlantic Ocean. I left my present home to visit my home for eleven years, also the place where my childhood dreams occurred. Traveling is an experience wherever you go, but this one was truly special and important as I was visiting family and friends whom I hadn’t seen in three years. On March 31st 2010, five English, and one American boarded a US Airways flight from Philadelphia, USA via Manchester, United Kingdom. Every emotion crossed my body before boarding the plane; joy of being able to travel, excitement for being on a plane, anxiousness incase of a terrorist attack, and happiness for traveling with the five most important people in my life at this time. Traveling just like playing in a final of any sports game, may seem to be a breeze and a lot of fun, but just like other trips across the pond it was stressful and nerve wrecking until arriving in Manchester. With security levels at a new high , and not being a citizen of the USA, we were skeptical of a possible encounter with those crazy customs persons. Due to all the bomb scares from flights to England, Customs Agents pull over any sketchy persons. So I pull up at the desk, take off my shoes, and put my belongings’ through the scanner. Here it goes an easy walkthrough the metal scanner and I am on my way. But not this time the machine beeped, and made me go through vigorous pat downs and questioning. After determining I was no a terrorist or any threat to the plane I was free to go. The trip from here was smooth and after a eight hour flight we arrived in England. Jetlagged, and excited feelings flushed m body but the best feeling in the world occurred when my grandpa hugged me the same way he always does. Even though this sounds very unremarkable it is something that I will always cherish as I barely get to see him. Food, culture, and language were all back to me and it was like I had never left. It was like being on a long vacation in the sun, but now I was home where I belonged with the people that loved me the most. Even though I was at home my girlfriend the American in the group was on vacation. She was amused to see me talk with an accent, get excited over eating a certain candy, and getting embellished watching TV. shows that I hadn’t seen in six years. It was like being a little kid in a candy store, I had a blast doing silly things that used to be so fundamental. This vacation reignited old connections for England and made me grateful for living in America. I like to think of the world as a book and those who don’t get to travel only get to read one page. If you take a chance and explore outside of the USA, you will have a lot of fun and see the coolest things. This trip was so much fun, I got to see family, enjoy long walks, meet famous athletes, and eat delicious foods. Finally I am grateful for being able to go on this trip and being able to visit my original home, and put another chapter into my life story.
