It was an early Monday morning. I packed my clothes the night before and was ready to head for the airport. We were on our way to one of the most spectacular places in the world, Hawaii. It was a family vacation. Something my whole family been wanting to go to for years. Everyone was so excited. We are so blessed because most people would literally die to go to a place with one of the most beautiful beaches.
Since we lived in Baton Rouge, Louisiana we had such a small airport. So we headed to Houston, Texas and was on our way. The trip took up to 8 hours. I swear it was the longest plane ride I’ve have ever been on. Yet, it was worth it because when we landed it was gorgeous. We decided to go on a cruise because we wanted to learned about each island. So we got on the cruise ship and departed. Everything that we saw the water the volcanoes were just amazing. It was totally different from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, let along any other place in the states.
As we were on the cruise ship we were ready to do a lot of fun and games on there. Yet, we saw something strange about some of the people. The people were sick but we just thought it was because of the waves. The outcome was totally different. We found out that there was a virus going around the whole ship. Everyone was getting sick even the people that worked there. Our trip that we thought was going to be the best trip ever turn out to be the worst. If only we did not get on the cruise ship we would have had a good trip. I felt that the person who owned the cruise ship, was to inconsiderate to tell anyone they had a virus going around because this was not the first time this happen. The workers should have sanitize everything and kept stuff clean and efficient. It wasn’t fair for people to pay a whole bunch of money and everyone ends up sick.
At first my parents got the virus. I thought I was quarantine to it but turns out I was not. I was the last one in my family to get sick. It was horrible. I literally had to stay quarantine to my room for two days because that’s how sick I was. I missed going out to two islands. I was very angry because this was suppose to be a trip of a lifetime and I ended up missing parts of it. It was that bad whereby people had to get on a helicopter from the ship to go to the hospital because they were dehydrated. I didn’t get that bad, but I did have to go the clinic at the lowest deck and get a doctor to check on me. The doctor was the one that quarantine me to my room until I started feeling better.
In conclusion, The best part of the trip was the island itself. The worst part was getting sick on the cruise ship. I planned on going to Hawaii again but probably not on a cruise next time. I’ve learned my lesson from that. Even though my family and I got sick I still tried to make the best of every situation. I guess we all as people live and learn.
