Costa Rica | My Family Travels

The most memorable trip I have been on was to Costa Rica. I went there with Brilla, a Christian- based soccer organization. Going on the trip meant a lot to me because it was my first mission trip and because it was my first time on an airplane. It was also special because I was able to play soccer, which I love, while spreading the word of God.

After traveling for 22 hours we arrived in Liberia, Costa Rica, where we stayed for five days.  The sightings there did not show the beauty of the land.  There were run-down houses without air conditioning, poor plumbing, and steel bars around buildings, which looked like jail cells.  There were children running around without shoes and with few clothing. We were also able to see places on the way that were not filled with poverty.  We were able to visit the beach, where we met more people and shared the word of God. We also saw many beautiful sights along the way.

We were able to give children clothing and shoes, who didn’t have much before. We also were able to meet new people around the community and spread the word of Christ by handing out tracts.  During the soccer games we had, we were able to spread the word by giving testimonies before the athletic events.  The only downfall was the language barriers. Overall, I believe our goal to introduce and teach others about God was a success.

I learned many things while on this amazing trip.  I learned to be grateful for things I have because I am blessed to have things many people do not have.  I also learned that there are ways that I can improve and strengthen my walk with Christ.  This trip changed me by making me realize that even though we were there to show others to Christ, I myself became closer to God.  This is the most memorable trip I have been on and I will never forget it.
