Ashford: the little town I know. | My Family Travels

I am the only girl of four brothers; that statement alone is an adventure within its own right www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php. To glorify the setting, we live in an extremly small town. There is not much in Ashford, Alabama: a few stores, a couples of traffic lights, and a railroad crossing or two www.google.com/imgres. I suppose an important part of this quaint little town is her natural glory. Most of all, the pure country fun that no city can offer in a store www.localpropertyindex.com:81/lpi-images/31/15594/lpiimg7797378.jpg.

I’ve always remembered the predominantly hot days in our small town. It is the type of “hot” that just sits there, and it takes a mighty breeze to rush by and relax the enviroment. After the breeze was gone, the heat would settle back into its place. This particular day was different. The wind was not in a hurry. In fact, it danced with whomever was in its presence, pulling and tugging on the ends of our shirts, trying to revive the leaves that were burdened from the hot days before.

I am not fond of outside activities, but today I made an exception. Grabbing our water bottles, my brothers and I headed for the woods. Slowly being consumed by tall and slinder pine trees, I became mesmerized by the glory of it all. I did not know that this microcosm exsisted. Hearing the leaves crackle beneath our feet, I was surrouned by the true Ashford, Alabama.

We ran through the woods and hid behind majestic Oaks. Our imaginations were set free. Squirrels and birds ruled the highest branches of the trees, while small ants and critters made safety under rocks and such. It was not until that day that I understood the difference between a Blue Bird and a Blue Jay. The subtle dance of the butterfly became more captivating than any ballet. The wind whispered secrets into my ears. I understood the feeling of the greatest pioneers. A sense of passion ran through my soul. And right when I lost my breathe due to the beauty of it all, the sun set and kissed the woods with its rich red and yellow colors www.facebook.com/editalbum.php.

Life is filled with adventures. Where they are found is truly up to the individual. But when it is found, whether near or far, we discover how real we truly are. I never knew the life that exsisted in the small town of Ashford, Alabama. Until the day, I decided to go on a life changing adventure through the woods  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashford,_Alabama.
