Theres a place in upper Michigan where my entire extended family and I travel to every summer at the end of July. It’s not some astonishing place like Paris or Australia but it’s amazing and breath taking in my eyes. Pentwater, Michigan is the exact location i’m describing. Just a small town off the coast of Lake Michigan. My family is quite larger and we don’t all get to see eachother very often. So bringing everyone together for this anunal trip is somewhat important and builds new memories every year.
My family and I are always able to find plenty to do in this little piece of unexpected paradise. We stay at a campground called Hill and Hallow which has many activities. These activites include swimming in the oymplic size pool, full lenght basketball, baseball and volleyball courts. And for the more nature in tune people there are trails among trails within the campground. There is fun for everyone young or old. Days start with a delicious family breakfast created by my grandmother and end with enourmous campfires with my huge family all sitting around gossiping about the days events and what tomorrow will bring.
Right down the road and to the left is a beatuiful breathe taking view of lake Michigan. Not only does this beach give an amazing sunset every night but is a hot spot during the day. You can always find my family under the huge rainbow unbrella with a clash of teenagers and a pinch of toddlers running around soaking up the sun. The days with the 5 foot waves are rare but unforgetable. From sunburns to sand we all love nothing more than a day at the beach. Right by the beach is a large hill everyone from the town calls mount baldy. Climb up the some 300 odd stairs through the woods and down a trail and you meet the top of the sand hill. The best part hasnt even come yet, on the count of three all cousins race down the steep sand hill. Laughing and giggling we all walk back to the beach and cool off with a swim.
Not only do we stay within the town but we all take advantage of what the area has to offer. Such as Michigan Adventure, we set aside a day where we all go together to the amusment park. We spend the first half of the day at the water park where there is endless slides and wave pools. After all the fun in the sun we head out to the rollercoasts and there are no lines so we are able to go on our favorite ones countinously. On another day the real journey begins, we all take a trip to the river and go rafting. This is always an eventful day. Swimming against the flow and working together to move the raft successfully to the end seems to always be a challenging but fun task.
This trip is always fun and has a way to make my family be able to bond with eachother and make memories. I believe I will carry this tradition on with my family for the year too come.
