The best experience of my life was my trip to the village of San Pedro, Nicaragua. I went to Nicaragua in February of 2009 for 14 days with BuildOn an organization at my school. BuildOn is a non-profit organization that raises money to build schools in third world countries. We raise money through the school year and two people are chosen from several different schools in the metro Detroit area to go and help build a school in a third world country. While in Nicaragua We lived in the village with a host family. We brought our own food and we pumped are own water. There was a group of about 15 students and we worked every day on the school in shifts with the village people. While one shift was working the other was doing some kind of cultural activity. We climbed mountains to pick coffee and saw the whole process of coffee making. We also meet with the local midwife and the local carpenter. We saw a farm and I got a chance to milk a cow.
