It was March fifth of 2010, four in the morning and I was feeling excited about my trip to San Francisco. We had been planning this trip since the beginning of the year, to make a video for students with questions about university. We had researched about different questions high school students could have about University, I was ready but yet I felt anxious. I knew this feeling wasn’t about the interviews but about the trip. I used to live in Mexico and then moved to Los Angeles California so the anxiety wasn’t about the distance, it was the fact that I wasn’t going with my family. Half an hour had passed and I was ready to go.
I took my suitcase and woke up my parents so they could take me to school. The feeling hadn’t vanished and now my heart was pounding really fast. I felt like if it was my first day in kinder garden I wanted to go but yet I felt scared because my parents weren’t going to be there to protect me. We got to the school and I saw the bus in which I was going to spend twelve hours. It was time to say good-bye. I could see in my parent’s face they were worried because even know I was only going to be gone for two days, that was going to be a lot for us.
I got in the bus and sat next to the window, the next two hours I slept because I knew it was going to be a long day. On our way I saw crops of different fruits, cows, horses and sheep. When we finally got to our hotel UC Berkeley Travelodge we quickly check-in because we had to take a tour in Berkeley. I wasn’t feeling so anxious anymore. Once we got to Berkeley we ate and started interviewing. Now I was nervous because I didn’t know who to interview everyone seemed in a rush. Finally I interviewed someone and I felt confident so I interviewed more people. I had visited universities before but this one was impressive because of the size and the diversity, after we left to our hotel to rest.
At night the bus took us to pier thirty nine and once there we went shopping and ate, we even got in a mirror maze, we had so much fun. On our way back to the hotel we had to first walk it was cold and my cheeks were hurting, we were all talking, singing and laughing. Then we took the subway and almost missed our stop. Once we got to the hotel we played cards and took a shower. I was exhausted from everything and felt asleep.
The next morning no one want to wake up, either did I. I woke up ate breakfast and packed because we were living to visit San Francisco University. On the way we stopped at the Chinatown to eat, I really wanted to eat Chinese food but after walking for about ten streets and not finding anything I gave up looking and decided to eat pizza. After that we headed to San Francisco University and there we made more interviews. When I got back to Los Angeles I was so glad because I missed my family a lot and my bed. This trip was a really good experience because it made me appreciate my family and I also discover a new place. This trip made me want to visit more places and be more adventurous.
