'Imi Loa (Explore) | My Family Travels

USS Arizona Memorial: Day 1: I felt the engraved names on the tips of my fingers. Like a blind person learning the language of Boreal for the first time, the impact of this event had finally hit me. People had died. To be more exact, 1177 people. Physically seeing the impact of this event, made me evaluate my own life and values. After this life changing experience, we continued on to our journey to see Pearl Harbor and the US Memorial.

Secret Waterfall Off the Road: Day 2: We pulled off to the side of the road. Confused on where we were going, I just followed my family and we saw locals up ahead. The area around us was Jurassic Park like, except there were no man-eating dinosaurs anywhere. The green trees and moisture in the air characterized the mystery of our destination. The locals muttered words of a foreign language and we followed in confusion. We walked for a few minutes through the fog, and suddenly heard the sound of the roaring water. As my feet sunk into the mud, I looked up at the magical fountain. I just stared in awe. As the emerald green water flowed from the vegetated mountain top, there was nowhere else I would rather be. We stopped and took in the surreal waterfall.

Cliff Jumping on North Shore: Day 3: I stared at the rocky jagged bottom of the bluff side. Taking a few steps closer and closer to the end, I knew I had to overcome my fear. The jump off the bluff was recreational and completely safe. But why was I so scared to do it? Edging toward the end of the rock formation, I could feel my heart beating and the adrenaline pumping through my veins. I had to jump. I took my leap and hoped for the best. While I was in the air, a hundred thoughts went through my mind. Before I knew it, my feet plunged into the deep, turquoise colored water. As I submerged under, I realized I had accomplished my goal and overcame my fear. I gasped for air as I reached the surface and felt the warm Hawaiian breeze on my face.
