One family vacation that really sticks out in my mind is the family trip we took to Kona (the big island of Hawaii). It was my mom, dad, little sister and I who went. When we go on vacations together we aren’t just a family, we are best friends.
When we went on this trip we got to do tons of cool things. My family and I don’t really like doing guided tours so we just do our own thing. It always turns out cheaper too. We got to kayak to Captain Cook’s monument, snorkel there, swim with manta rays at night, see an active volcano, and swim on every beach we could find, and hike Rainbow falls. I had so much fun on this trip. The part that sticks out to me the most was kayaking to Captain Cook’s monument and snorkeling there. It was absolutely beautiful. We saw so much variety in fish there. We even saw a bat ray and a moray eel. In my opinion that place is one of the most prettiest places on earth.
One really funny time that I remember was when we went to a hidden beach. Our rental car was a 2008 Ford Mustang, so it wasn’t very fit for off roading. We didn’t know at the time that to get to the beach you had to go on a road made of hardened lava. That poor car was scraping the lava more than it wanted to. That isn’t the funny part though. Once we got to the beach we noticed that there were two couples who were running around on the beach nude! My dad insisted we leave. It was a beautiful beach with sea turtles, palm trees and white sand.
The only thing that made this trip less fun was that I had a boyfriend at the time. It was a new relationship. So he was always wanting to text me and I felt bad when I was busy. That took away some fun I could have been having. Out of everything we did that was the only thing that was bad.
When my family and I go on vacations we always- without a doubt- have fun. We never disappoint each other, this family trip will be forever in my memories as well as all the other trips we have taken and those to come. To any one who will listen: don’t let any significant other get in your way of having the maximum amount of fun you can have with your family. They are the most important people in your life, and you need to spend your time with them wisely.
