I traveled to New York for my Sweet Sixteen! I had been planning this trip since I was about five years old. I fell in love with this amazing, cultured city. There is so much to do and so little time. It helped me learn and re-establish my personal dreams. I went to a Broadway show, Mary Poppins, which was amazing! But most of all I got to go backstage. Standing on that stage, looking out towards the audience made me speechless. It was all my dreams put in one night and something I will never forget. I also went to Ellis Island were we found out about my family's hard life and push to get to America. The whole experience is moving and helped me respect and appreciate what I have. And seeing the Statue of Liberty is so touching to realize how lucky we are to be living in this amazing, free country! We also went to Sunday mass at St. Patrick’s, being Catholic this was a moving religious experience. Catholic or not this is a beautiful, incredible church that is a must see !Just simply walking around and taking in the different people and places of NYC is an experience itself, with gorgeous Central Park, 5th avenue , all the different shops, Soho, just everything was breath-taking! Finally, being Sicilian made it a must to go to Little Italy. Where I had the best Gnocchi I had ever had. The little area makes you feel at home and at peace. It is welcoming and beautiful. This city has so much to offer! If you ever have a chance to go to this amazing, multi-cultured city, do not think twice get up and go! I cannot wait to go back to my soon to be home!
