Grand Cayman, the Paradise on Earth - My Family Travels

For my Sweet 16 my mom let me chose between a big party with my friends or a tropical vacation to my favorite destination, Grand Cayman. Obviously i picked the awesome vacation!yes I have gone a few cruises before this and the cruise boat stopped at Grand Cayman a few times and we always loved it. We went in June right after i finished my Freshman year of high school in 2009 and before my Color guard practices started up later that month. We had to take a connection flight. We departed from O'Hare airport in Chicago to the Miami Airport (I hate that airport cause the food isn't good and the people are rude) and from there we flew to Grand Cayman. If you don't know the Cayman island are part of the West Indies and south of Cuba. It felt weird being in a country besides the United States and that it was also owned by the British. Anyways, the airport was small and the environment felt friendly. My mom booked us a room at the Marriott Resort on the 7 mile beach which is adjacent to George Town. This resort was TOO AMAZING! You are greeted with these fruit punch drinks that tasted divine and the resort has private property on the beach. They had their own sun-bathing chairs and umbrellas and you are waited on as you lay in the hot sun....and you get more of the yummy fruit punch! I loved the feeling of the breeze in my hair, the smell of the ocean, my favorite music in my ears, my toes in the white sand, and the sun beating down on me.  The weather was really hot though and i got pretty burned but it was all worth it. Besides soaking up the sun my mom and I visited a few places for fun. There was a town name "Hell" close to George town and we went there and got some postcards that said "Greetings from Hell" to send as a joke to family and friends. My favorite highlight of the trip was when we visited Dolphin Cover and swam with the energetic dolphins. Other places that were great were Turtle Farm, Stingray City, and the shopping in George Town. While we were there we visited two very Delicious restaurants: Lobster Pot and Chicken Chicken. I highly recommend these two places cause they were very delicious and left you always wanting more. The only bad thing about the island is the transportation; the transportation is not the most glamorous and is cost worthy. Another word of advice is to trade your American dollars for their money BEFORE you leave because it will end up costing you less money that way. The weather in the beginning of June was terribly hot and somewhat uncomfortable and it is suppost to be much worse in August. I don't think I could handle that heat all the time, maybe that's why I am a Midwestern girl. <3 If you want to go to a warm place with white sand, palmtrees, and have safe environment go to the Cayman Islands!
