Vacations are a great time to get away from your usual schedule and visit a new place, and what's better than a vacation with your friends and family? Last summer I went to San Diego, California to visit my Aunt Terri with my boyfriend, Kenny. I have been to California twice before this vacation, once when I was four years old, and two summers before this one I went with my other aunt, her friend, and my little brother. This time was my boyfriend's first time on an airplane and only his second time ever leaving Michigan. This was the first vacation I have ever been on where I got to decide what, when, and where we went. Months before our trip, my boyfriend and I looked up fun things to do near San Diego and made a list of places we wanted to go, things we wanted to do, and about how much money we planned on spending. When we arrived, we did basic tourist attractions such as the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, and take a trip up to Hollywood. Because my Aunt Terri has lived in San Diego for the past twenty-five years, she knew of cool places to take us that she knew we would love. My favorite place she took us was to the Torrey Pines State Park http://www.torreypine.org/ . At the Torrey Pines State Park, there are sea coves that people are allowed to go walk through, play in, and explore the sea life living there. There were miles and miles of eroded cliffs and sea coves that my boyfriend and I were itching to explore. We found little coves where lots of crabs lived, and a huge coves that echoed the sound of the waves crashing in. One of the coolest things was seeing wild sea otters swimming only a few yards away from us. It was amazing to look at the cliffs and see the erosion lines and realize how old everything was. Everything seemed so fresh, alive, and amazing. The three of us sat at an edge of a cliff looking out into the endless ocean. At that moment, I realized how amazing the ocean is and how powerful and moving it can be. It is so alluring, I never wanted to leave California. Luckily, my mom and dad have not been out to California since I was four years old, and I get to go to California again with my parents and little brother. Hopefully the trip will be just as fun and amazing ...
