Many people would describe their “traveling family” as their immediate family members that are related by blood or legal documents, but I would like to call my traveling family as the students from my school. Over Spring break, I had the opportunity to travel to the wonderful countries of Spain and France with my foreign language classes from my school. It was one of the best experience I’ve had and something I will never forget.
We started out the trip by waking up at 4 in the morning on the first day of my spring break so that I could be at the airport by 5. It was already the beginning of an adventure and I couldn’t contain my excitement. During every flight I was completely restless and I couldn’t hold still. The flight seemed like it would never end and I couldn’t find anything to pass the time fast enough. But we eventually landed and I didn’t know how to respond. I was overwhelmed and every new thing I experienced seemed magical. I was taking pictures like crazy because I wanted to remember absolutely everything! We arrived in Madrid at 8 in the morning on March 22. We immediately started our tour and traveled throughout the city. We saw famous national monuments and buildings everywhere. We learned of the city’s history and special places of importance. As we stayed in Madrid for a few more days, we took a field trip to Toledo, went to the Prado museum, the Palacio Real de Madrid, Plaza del Toros, and the Parque de Retiro. We conquered the troubles of the subway and tried the exquisite churros con chocolate.
Next stop, Barcelona. I loved this wonderful city, right on the coast of Spain. We traveled to the beautiful cathedral of the Sagrada Familia and Parque Guell, up to Montjuic to overlook the entire city, and down through Las Ramblas for some amazing shopping. One day, we got to spend an entire afternoon on the beach. We went shopping, played soccer, watched the ocean and played in the water. I loved Barcelona and tried to enjoy as much of my trip as I could, even though it was coming to an end soon.
The last place we went on our trip was to Paris. We got to see the beautiful Opera House, the Bridge of Locks, Notre Dame, the Louvre, Montmarte, and of course the Effiel Tower. Paris is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen. The architecture is astounding and I was always finding something new and amazing to see.
My whole trip was the dream of a lifetime. I want to travel back sometime soon and make even more memories. This was such a special experience for me and I’m so blessed I got this opportunity. It gave me the urge to travel more and visit new places. I cant wait for my next adventure and I hope I enjoy it as much as this one.
