Mind you it’s only one street, the area has limitless wonders.Local bars, restaurants, businesses, theaters, dance halls, delis, donut shops, tea shops, cafés all meant to satisfy both your aspirations and wallet. No place out of arm's reach or with daunting exercise, but rather comforting with feelings of jubilation. Strained cheek bones are a safety hazard, but don’t let that frighten you away. Begin to linger through the smells of fresh baked dough, fresh herbs while listening to music that will ease your worries, in other words: begin to pack for your future trip.
The first stop must be the tower theatre. Numerous classic performances such as the plays Charlotte's web, the Princess and the Pea, and even the Ugly Duckling including sounds of music of The Eagles; the theatre never falls short of satisfying various community members in Fresno allowing them to evade from the everyday struggles. Each play beautifully choreographed from ranges of well known actors to common average Joes, leaves the audience members as more than just mere watchers but rather engaged with a sense of connection and importance.
Tower District is also proud of the fact that most of the businesses are privately owned rather than major business cooperations. From the hippie store, Freebird, who express the psychedelic way, to the more chic boutiques,Tsu Tsu Boutique, with latest styles at the cheapest prices, each business owners interact with customers on a personal level. All ensuring the best shopping experience.
When visiting, one should also remember to go to the local tea shop known as Teazers. The environment holds a peaceful atmosphere with cultural teapots as well as a back room that gives off dim lighting essential to keep the body at a calm sensation. Most first goers to Teazers tend to buy The Honolulu, and with great choice because the tea holds freshly squeezed lemon with sweet apple slices and ice that doesn’t over power the drink to the point of an unequal ratio of drink to ice. However once familiar with at least one drink many become adventurous for more tongue quenching teas!
If tea isn’t exactly on your top ten list of favorites, no problem! A few stores over is Sequoia Brewing that displays performances by local bands that at some points produce vibrations that tingle the soles of your feet when passing by. Pizza, grilled foods, and a cold pint of beer… root beer that is, are all sure to satisfy any growling stomach after an exhausting day.
The beauty of Tower District is that it’s never shy in displaying the communities artistic skills with murals on walls dispersed throughout the street. They are presented on every corner representing our ever growing society with it’s ups and downs and our abilities to sustain it’s ever growing pressure. A person can’t feel excluded in anyway, but rather welcomed by events such as father’s day blues fest, pooch parade, pride parade, mardi gras, and car shows that unite the community. Tower District holds our hands to keep us afloat and we in return extend our hands to all. Won’t the next one be you?
