In the world, there are a lot of great places to spend the summer.  A lot of people choose locations inside the US; therefore, failing to think outside the "box."  Outside the "box," in Southeast Poland, located at the foot of Europe's oldest mountain range, the ÅšwiÄ™tokrzyski Mountains, rests a city.  The city is Kielce, my hometown, which everyone should get the chance to visit.

For the optimal Kielce experience, one must be able to spend a few nights somewhere.  Kielce has countless hotel options which offer bed, breakfast, and dinner, all at a decent price.  The options are so vast, one has to look at a website, such as HRS (www.hrs.pl), to make the right choice.  Particularly, Hotel Astoria (www.hotelastoria.pl), on KoÅ›ciuszki Street, is suitable for a couple that wants to spend a honeymoon in Kielce.

Kielce comes prepared for die-hard shoppers.  Countless shops, stores, and malls dot its map.  Galeria Korona (www.galeria-korona.pl), not too far from downtown, was just built and offers three storeys of shops, cafes, and a cinema.  For those who like shopping and being out on fresh air, there's Sienkiewicz Street.  Restricted to pedestrians only, it's lined with trees, shops, cafes, and parks for two kilometers.  With thousands of stores and malls dotting the area, Kielce is a great place for the family shopping freak.

No day is complete without a cup of coffee and some cake or ice cream, a fact that the business coordinators of Kielce took very seriously.  That's why there is a cafe or ice cream shop on almost every street.  However, the best place to stop for a snack is the Cztery Pory Roku Cafe (4poryroku.com) on Sienkiewicz Street.  They have an amazing selection of ice cream, baked goods, drinks, and even wine.  The best snack there would consist of: cappuccino, ice cream, and the popular blueberry-filled roll heaped with shortbread.  At every cafe, one should always come prepared for their wallet to take a wallop, the food is so good.

A history lesson is a must when visiting Kielce.  There are many choices of museums.  Out of all the choices, the most interesting is the Museum of Toys an Play (www.muzeumzabawek.eu), featuring the toys of old and new, and various styles of play.  As for the real history lesson, check out the Museum of the History of Kielce (www.muzeumhistoriikielc.pl) which holds information on the entire existence of Kielce.  Visiting Kielce is not only relaxing, but also very educational.

For the real vacation experience, look outside the vast United States.  Travel to Kielce, Poland, from where memories last more than a lifetime.
