World Beauty - My Family Travels
The Beaches of Fiji
The Beaches of Fiji
?Something about standing alone, thousands of miles away from home, a certain beauty embracing my very being; I am gazing upon something that will remain a vivid picture in my mind for as long as my memory withstands. This scene in front of me is like no other. Standing on top of one of the country’s famous sand dunes, I begin to feel the hope-filled air surround me. The wind is blowing different energies of happiness and adventure. At that moment emotions are running through my body, enhancing the view that I am so enriched by. My mind is trying to absorb every aspect of my surroundings as there is a voice inside me telling me that this place is special.

?At the peak of the sand dune, I view heavenly beaches with clear blue ocean waters and soft white sands. So gorgeous a view, my naïve mind attempts to avoid blinking, so as not to miss a thing, afraid that any minor distraction could erase this moment of beauty; but the beauty does not end with these features. As I turn slightly to my left, there seems to be a whole other world striving beside me. Staring beyond and below the sand dunes I view an Island of poverty. Completely contradicting my previous view, I can hardly believe this sight! Shacks used as homes, dirt roads, rugged clothing, shoe-less people, and hardworking faces, all seem to create a new feeling within me. With both of these views surrounding me, I can now define the profound feelings this moment is giving me!

?The beautiful earthly features and poverty stricken lifestyle that represent this country’s culture has given me a new perspective of the beauty in this world. This place was bringing me something that most people will not experience in a lifetime. Standing here overlooking these views, I discover a unique sense of unity between two strong forces that are necessary in the world: nature and civilization. The nature presented in front of me represents only joy and pure happiness. The civilization presented to the side of me, represents a culture filled with grateful attitudes, hardworking people, and adventure, despite its detachment from the many technological advancements of the new world. During this moment, I reflect upon the power of this unity and how essential it is to be united in the world.

?Here I stand, in a foreign country, representing the United States as a Student Ambassador. Here at this place, my mind is capturing every aspect the view brings to me. I take multiple pictures so as to never forget the meaning this image had on my perspective on life. Here at this place I found hope in a better tomorrow. Here at this place I made the decision to be more understanding and remember that there is a greater world outside of my own niche and, it must be discovered. Here at this place I discovered my own passion for worldly affairs. Here at this place, I imagined a future where the world is known to everyone. Lastly, standing here, on the highest sand dune of the Islands of Fiji, the true meaning and potential of a world with five oceans, seven continents, one hundred ninety six countries, and seven billion people, became clear!

Absolutely love this list of Mardi Gras celebrations outside New Orleans! Each destination seems to offer its own unique blend of culture, music, and vibrant festivities. While I’m tempted to explore them all, I can’t help but dream of experiencing the colorful chaos of Mardi Gras in Goa, India. Exploring India’s rich cultural tapestry during this festive season would undoubtedly be an unforgettable adventure. Thanks for inspiring wanderlust with these fantastic recommendations!
