For some, traveling with a child throughout Europe can equate to a huge challenge; for others, it can be the journey of a lifetime. But to make a truly memorable time for every member of the family, it is worth planning a trip to a location which was already visited by travelers with children.
These five sites were shared with us by the Travel Ticker team. Here you will have the best time with your little ones, and also get a chance to gaze upon some natural and architectural beauty with your spouse. So romance for you two and fun for your children are guaranteed!
If you are willing to travel with children and not just spend your whole time in a hotel sunbathing or something, one of the best routes to take is the Ring of Kerry in Ireland. About 180 km of road, stretching throughout the most beautiful areas of Ireland, it will allow the family a quiet but very meaningful trip. You can visit the ancient Celtic forts, admire the unique nature of Ireland, stop to have a picnic with the family and, ultimately, gaze upon one of the world’s most beautiful coastal sceneries.
South West Wales’ Skomer Island also falls into the most family-friendly European places list. To the question – why? There is only one answer – unique nature and a huge variety of flowers! The sea, cliffs, breathtaking landscapes and outcrops will take you and your kids’ breath away. On the island, you will see a lot of birds. In fact, the island is declared as a national nature reserve, and here the seabird nesting sites are strictly protected.
In Finland, you can find the Aland archipelago – one of the most popular destinations for both local and tourist families. Aland consists of almost 6,500 islands, 80 of them are inhabited. Families are attracted to this particular corner of the world by breathtaking views which you can enjoy for the better part of the year. This destination is recommended for those who wish to spend a lot of time outdoors, getting to know the exceptional landscape.
Austria can offer idyllic scenery for a traveling family too. Vorarlberg is the perfect choice for those who still do not know what to expect from a holiday. It is full of a variety of entertainment, so your stay there will definitely meet the expectations of each family member.
There are quiet places to sit and have a picnic, museums, historical monuments, cozy cafés, impressive streets to wander around, and the fabulous amusement park called Alpine Coaster Golm. Families are also advisable to stop at Adlerwarte observatory where children will have the opportunity to get acquainted with unique wilderness.
The Black Forest, also known as the Schwarzwald, is a spectacular natural site in southwestern Germany. The 160km park is actually one of the most visited German forests. Kids will be impressed by the Gutach River, a huge waterfall, 500 meters high. This forest was the one mentioned in the loved children’s books by the Brothers Grimm- for example, in Hansel and Gretel.
