When people think of Mexico violence and poverty may come to mind. When I think of Mexico adventure and culture pop into my head. My recent trip there, I went with a friend of mine. Her family and I stayed at their condo at the hotel, El Jolla Del Mar, for four days and three nights. I was excited because it was the first time I’d stayed there, which meant a lot.
When we arrived we hit the city! My friend, Brianna, and I were starving from the long ride there so her parents took us to eat right on Rosarito beach. After we ordered our drink, the waitress gave each of us a plate and a rock. I had no idea what they were for? A few minutes later she’s came back with a crab! I’d never eaten crab before so Brianna’s parents how to teach me. It was so, incredibly delicious!
The next day we went to La Bufadora. I was so confused, and my face surely showed it, because I’d never hear of that place before. After a long four hours of driving through Rosarito and Ensenada, we had reached our destination. In order to “officially” get there we had to walk through a swap meet and there’s were I saw it… a lion! Still a cub of course. We stopped and took pictures. I was hoping it wouldn’t bite me toes since I was wearing sandals. A few more minutes of walking we found La Bufadora. I didn’t know exactly what it was so Brianna explained that it’s a geyser. Either way, it was awesome! Finally, we were done taking pictures and decided to get something to eat. We at a place named Hana Banana. They had animals like monkeys and snakes there. It was so fun!
Early morning of the third day, Brianna and I decided to go to Rosarito beach and attempt to catch crabs. We were determined to catch I big crab, but came back with a handful hermit crabs. Saddened, we went back to watch movies like Norbit and Man on the Ledge. After her parents lecturing us about being active we all decide to play volleyball on the beach. Brianna was complaining about how the volleyball was too hard that we had to get another ball. Even with that we still had a good time. After all the Olympic practice we decided it was time to eat and boy were we hungry! Her mom made shrimp, rice, beans, and lobster. It was mouthwatering!
The last day there Brianna and I returned the crabs to the ocean. Once we said our goodbyes we went back up to clean . While cleaning the patio we looked down at one of the pools an saw a pelican in it! Watching security try and take it out was hilarious. when they returned it we gathered our things and were ready to leave. Brianna wanted to eat at a Mongolian restaurant in Mexico because she wanted me to try it, it was delicious! They also gave us a fast pass. I’d crossed the border hundreds of times but even with our fast pass it took three hours!
In all, I loved the trip and I’m so thankful/blessed to have gotten the experience. It definitely motivates me to become successful in life so I can travel and experience more. There is nothing I would change about this trip, even though there were some downers. To my, the whole point of living is to explore the world and this is just the beginning.
