Band and Buses - My Family Travels

The best trip I have ever been on has to be the band’s spring trip my junior year. We went to Sandusky, Ohio and it was the most fun I’ve ever had! For me half of the fun was the bus ride because when you get sixty band kids on a bus, hilarity ensues! Well, we had twenty hours worth of hilarity to have, so I was excited about that from the very start.

We talked and laughed until tears were pouring down our faces the whole time! When we got there, we did the usual sightseeing with the grueling ‘bed by eleven up at seven’ schedule that makes a trip, a trip.

However, on one morning in particular, I did not care. We were going to the Cedar Point Amusement Park that day and it boasts the tallest and fastest roller coaster in North America. I could not contain myself! I was giggly and bubbly the whole way there. Even more so than usual, that is.

As I settled into the seat with my seat belt tightly fastened around me, my mind began to race, and I got butterflies in my stomach. All I could think about was how totally awesome this ride was going to be. They rolled us out of the boarding house and to the shoot off point and my stomach began to lurch.

Three, two, one, ZOOM! We were off at one hundred twenty-five miles per hour to climb a four hundred fifteen foot tower! It only lasted about a minute, but as short as it was, that was one of the most amazing moments in my entire life! I have never been that exhilerated before.

I will never forget the look on Corey’s, my friend and fellow band nerd’s, face when we stopped. I can only imagine that I had that same look on my own face. It was a look of bewilderment, excitement, and fright. After that, we tried to ride it again, but we did not have time before it was time to go home.

We started the trek back to our homes in Semmes, Alabama. The return trip was not as hilarity-filled this time because we were all so exhausted. For me, this was the trip of a lifetime and I could not have picked a better group of people to go with.
