My family and i traveled to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for my fifteenth birthday the first week of June in 2006. Vallarta Palace, our motel, had three massive pools and hot tubs, a lifesize chess table, tennis court, and its own scuba diving instructor; it also had its own Chinese, Mexican, Itlaian, and Mediterranean restaurants. Each room had a balcony overlooking the beach, its own bar, and an immense jacuzzi.
The ocean had such a beautiful ultramarine hue. The first day we decided to lie around the motel and watch the ocean that surrounded us. We sunbathed by the pools and watched as the birds flew over us in the sky; they looked much different than the sea birds native to our land. Along the coast were coconuts and other exotic creatures that looked like sandollars but were as thin as paper. The following day my dad, brother, and I went fishing with a guide. There were no bites but we got to view the beautiful scenery. In the water were millions of objects the lit up blue; they looked like jellyfish but were extremely tiny. Later on I sailed through the sky in a parachute. If you ever want to see the view above a city, parachute’s the way to go.
On the third day all of us took an hour boat ride to a seperate island. My mom and brother went snorkeling while my dad and I went scuba diving. What lies beneath the surface of the ocean is so gorgeous! We got to see seahorses and eels, I was able to hold a starfish and blowfish; they are remarkable creatures! The next day was just a rest day. We took a tour of Nuevo Vallarta and visited two different tequila factories; tequila is a very important export for the cities in that area. On the fifth day we went on an ecursion through the forests. There were wires attached from tree to tree and we glided across them. To get down from the trees we got the chance to repel down seventy-five feet. The last day we rode dune buggies through the town and small villages. At one point during the trip our buggy ran out of gas and we stranded on the side of the road until somebody found us fuel.
Overall our trips were great. Puerto Vallarta is a wonderful family vacation. The best trip to take is the one that consists of gliding through the forests, next to that would be scuba diving. It’s the greatest trip I have ever been on.
