In the past couple of years I have traveled with my Youth Group to New York on a mission trip. We didn’t just help people out we had fun while doing it too! July 23, 2006: All 26 of us climbed on into an American Airlines plane. Off we went to NYC, the city that never sleeps.
While in New York we traveled to New Jersey (by train) and helped out at a school, that we painted. We were so wiling to do it, and the people were so appreciative of it too!. At night we went to Central Park and performed creative movement pieces.
All the while we traveled by using the Subway. I have to admit that it was a little scary at first, but God helped us by relieving the fear that we had.
It was a stormy night on July 30,2006, when all 26 of the First Baptist Burleson Youth Group got stuck inside the cold John F. Kennedy Airport. We had tried to make the best of it, even though it was tough at times. We had arrived home safe and sound at 1:16 a.m.
July 31, 2006. My experiences traveling were great. At times they were rough, like the time I almost got squashed in the subway doors, and the time we were stuck in the airport.
All of that does not matter, because we had so many great times to cover those rough spots. Over all the traveling was okay, because we did indeed help out a community, and we led people to Christ, which is all that matters in the end!
