I love family vacations. It’s a time to go someplace new and just spend time with the ones you love. But what happens when a dreaded trip, takes an unexpected turn?

We are riding in the van on our way to the mountains. We go to the mountains every year. I like the beach better. We are finally at the motel. I don’t like riding in a car long distances. I get car sick. Okay, well I have to unpack. Bye.

Okay, so I woke up this morning and it was supposed to be a pool day, but it’s raining and cold. Perfect day for hiking! Except I don’t like hiking. I don’t like bugs and I have a fear of ticks. But we are going anyway.
We are hiking downhill to a waterfall. It’s so pretty! The blue, icy water is rushing down the rocks. We have seen about twenty deer so far. It’s not as bad as i thought it would be.

Yay! It’s sunny! Which means it’s a pool day. Today my eight month old sister, Madelyn, got in. She was kicking her feet around in the water. It was so cute. My sister, Victoria, and I played racing games and we jumped in with multiple floats on. It was fun.

So, I requested going out to breakfast. We went to this small resturant right before you get on the main mountain that we went on Tuesday. I got pancakes. They were the size of a bike tire. They were huge. Then we went walking around town. The sun was hurting my sunburn. Next time, I’m going to wear something on my arms because a tank top didn’t work well.

Yay! It’s the 4th of July. Luray has the best firework show ever. They have food and games and then at about nine the fireworks start. It’s amazing! It’s 3:00 pm and it’s raining. I hope it stops before we go to the activies because I wait all year for the cotton candy and fireworks.
Okay, now it’s 8:00 pm and we are at McDonalds. We went to the park thinking it would stop…but it didn’t. Yum, dinner was good, but I’m upset I didn’t get my cotton candy. It stopped raining! We are praying the rain holds off until after the fireworks.
It worked out. We just had to relax and go somewhere else to eat and then go back. The fireworks were amazing. Too bad we go back home tomorrow.

We woke up this morning and decided we wanted to go get breakfast at that resturant again. It is the weekend buffet. It had so much food: waffles, sausage, bacon, french toast, and so much fruit.
It’s sad when you have to leave someplace that makes you open your eyes and realize what’s right in front of you. It meant a lot that I got to share a wonderful experience with the people that matter most. I learned to stress less. Stressing doesn’t make things happen any sooner. I’m different in so many ways now. But the biggest thing is, I know not to take any moment for granted.
