My family was about to leave Vietnam in one month. After visiting all of the relatives, we decided to have a trip to a wonderful place. My aunt suggested going to Dam Sen Park (3 Hoa Binh St., Saigon District 11, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.). Then at about 3:00 PM, we together drove to the park. I could wait no more to put my feet on the Dam Sen Park’s land. We arrived at about 3:30 PM and the “journey” began.
My first feeling was empty. I felt as if I were lost in an endless world. Our first stop was at the Au Lac Square. It was a monument of Lac Long Quan and Au Co who were known as the ancestors of the Vietnamese people. The landscape around it looked very beautiful by cheerful apricot and charming flowers. Next, we went to the Orchid Garden where sightseers can appreciate all types of valuable orchids and enjoy their relaxing fragrance. It was one of my favorite places. As we were walking, I saw the sculptures of personalities from the famous Chinese movie – Western Travel Story. I was so excited that I yelled, “Let’s go in there!” What an amazing place! The miserably dangerous journey of Duong Tang and his loyal followers was displayed excellently. I could not remember how many times I yelled because of the scary space with blood and deaths of giant puppets and dreadful sounds. When we came to the end, I quickly jumped out and felt so relaxed, “Ha! I’ve just returned from the dark underground!” It was very interesting, though. Leaving the Western Travel Story, we went to the Ice Lantern. Before entering, we had to wear long jackets to stay warmed because the temperature was about -10 degree Celsius, which is very strange to Southern people who are familiar with sunny weather all the year around. It was an amazing place with outstanding ice sculptures of architectural works around the world such as U.S. Congressional House, Chinese decorated chair, Indian Jai Mahal, or London Tower. I never thought it would be extremely cool like that. However, I really loved it-the shining and pure colors. When we went out, I could truly feel the total opposite feeling between two different places as I was standing in the desert.
