New Orleans After the Hurricane - My Family Travels

It was three years after the horrors of Hurricane Katrina and the director of the Wayne State Trio Upward Bound Program thought it was a good time for us to take a trip to the beautiful city of New Orleans. I have been in the Wayne State Trio Upward Bound Program since I was in the 9th grade and it was the best things that happen to me. Every year after our summer program we go on a college tour my first year we when to Alabama, my second year we when to South Carolina and New York, and my third year we when to New Orleans and Washington D.C.  Every year we go on two trips one in the spring and one in the summer. But I want o tell you about our trip to New Orleans. It take about 15 hour to drive over night from Detorit to New Orleans but it took us 18 hours. As soon as we got in the state of Louisiana we had a blow-out on one of the three buses we had. Than the bus I was on cut off while we were still on the freeway and that was scarey but luckily we were by a ramp and could get off.Than we finaly made it to our hotal and we were told go freahen up for dinner and come back down at 8p.m. Well everyone did that and as we were told at 8p.m. on the dot we were back down stairs and it was raining so hard and so bad we could not see out the windows of the hotel to the street. But the day most go on rain or not so we ran to our buses and when to the Hard Rock Café. After dinner we when back to the hotel to get some sleep after our long trip. The next day we when to University of New Orleans, Garble University, and Xavier University, this day were not as bad as the first day. We when back to the hotel and was told the same as the first day get ready for dinner and we all did what we were told. Well on our way to dinner that night the bus I was on was the last bus to leave and as we are pulling out a car ran into the side of the bus. After about 20 minutes of us sitting there the director of the program had one of the other buses had to come back and get us. So we when to dinner and had a good time until it was time to g, we were having so much fun that we forgotten that we had left our other bus at the hotel. So all 150+ of us had to fix on two fifth passengers buses and we did. Our last day in New Orleans was okay we when to the New Orleans Zoo and the monkeys tried to attack us. We had a tour of the city which we got to see some of the horrible effects of Hurricane Katrina which three years after it was still not fix yet. We also when to the French Condors to do a little stopping and eating which I loved. I had fun in New Orleans even when things were going wrong we still enjoyed ourselves and I will always love the city of New Orleans after Katrina.
