Disney World Vacation | My Family Travels

Disney World, the place where dreams come true, allowed me to re-live my childhood for a day, and it was an experience that I will never forget.  I visited it for the first time ever with my family during the summer of 2008.  It was amazing.  Seeing the Disney characters from movies at the park brought back so many childhood memories.  The whole park was “magical” from the enchanted castle to the rush of adrenaline I received from flying through the air on the awesome rides.

First arriving at the Magic Kingdom was thrilling.  My family and I had to ride on a boat to actually get into the Magic Kingdom because it was separated from the crowded parking lots by a man-made body of water about the size of a small lake.  When we arrived at the park, a sweet aroma filled the air.  And then my eyes saw it.  There it was.  The huge castle I had been waiting my whole life to view.  I had seen it in the movies, but never in real life.  It was beautiful.

However, we could not walk over to the Enchanted Castle right away.  There were rides to be ridden and sights to be seen.  Some of the rides we experienced were Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain, and Space Mountain.  My personal favorite of the three was Space Mountain.  Twisting and turning through poles covered with small lights felt like I was flying through the galaxy, weaving in and out of the stars.  Even though it was just a roller coaster, it was still a beautiful and magical experience.

During the day, a parade of Disney characters strolled through the park.  It was amazing to watch them go by while memories from my childhood flooded my mind.  Mickey.  Minnie.  Donald Duck.  Cinderella.  The villains from the movies.  They were all on spectacular floats.  That was one of the major highlights of my day.

There was also a nighttime parade.  This one was just as good, if not better, than the one we had seen earlier in the day.  There were glistening lights on every float, and music was playing for everyone to enjoy.  Seeing the Disney characters was really nice, but seeing them at night with lights shimmering from every angle was electrifying.

Shortly after the parade, the fireworks show began.  It was located at the Magic Kingdom castle, which made it even more beautiful.  It seemed as though almost everyone in the park had gathered in front of the castle to see the fireworks.  Music played in the background, fireworks boomed and lit up the sky, and the castle stood there, tall, gorgeous, and colorful.  This was a terrific display which I had longed to see my whole life, and it was finally time.

Disney World was amazing and honestly, I am thankful that my parents did not take me when I was younger.  I am glad that they waited until this past summer because if they had not waited until then, I might not remember it as well. It is an experience that I never want to forget.  It was absolutely wonderful!
