The most memorable trip I have ever taken was my fun filled adventure to the Bahamas. My family and I took a four day cruise to the tropical paradise and I experienced things that I will never forget. As well as being the best experience of my life, the trip taught me something about life that I will always remember.
After sailing all of the first night on our Royal Caribbean cruise liner, we arrived in Nassau the next morning. This place, however, did not have a beach; so we were stuck touring the small town and all of the straw markets. Although fun, this part of the country was not what I expected.
The next morning we arrived at the private island named Coco Cay. This place looked like a picture in a magazine. This was the paradise I had been imagining for quite some time, right in front of me. The color of the water reminded me of toilet bowl cleaner. It was so blue and crystal clear that you could see all the way to the bottom. The sand was almost as white as snow and was shaded in spots by leaning palm trees that were gently blowing in the breeze. The island was so small that I could walk from one end to the other in about five minutes. While there, my brother and I decided to go snorkeling. However, if you do this, make sure your snorkel does not have a leak in it. It makes it difficult to breathe.
We started to wade out into the water and suddenly a huge sting ray came up out of the sand right beside my foot. I screamed like a girl, but eventually I got over it. Once we got out to the deeper water, we were engulfed by a world filled with hundreds of neon colored fish and creatures that slightly resembled small aliens. It was amazing be a part of that separate underwater world where it seemed as though nothing else even mattered. Unfortunately we had to leave and get back on the boat for dinner. That night it was impossible for me to go to sleep because images from the day kept racing back and forth in my head as if they were never going to stop. Eventually they ran out of energy and I was able to get some sleep.
The next day was spent sailing home and stuffing my face at the endless buffets of free food. That night I went to the back of the boat by myself and starting thinking while reclined in a comfortable chair. This vacation was different than most. Normally we go to the beach with my best friend and his family. I always end up blowing off my parents and just hanging out with my friends. This cruise though, it was just my family, which doesn’t happen very often. As I sat staring out at the ocean, the sea helped me see how important my family was. Many times I take for granted the things that they do for me, and I don’t realize how much they go through. I realized how essential it is to spend quality time with my parents. I do not want to look back when I am older and regret not spending time with them. Sometimes they may not be as cool as I would like them to be, but it is still important for me to make as many happy memories with my family as I can.
