My travel experiences begin when I actually got onto a plane for the first time heading to a new country. This occurred in 8th grade during the winter break when my family and I decided to go to China.
The plane flight was something new because I haven’t gone on one before. As I stepped onto the plane, it was something cool and new. I thought the flight would take us to China in 2 hours or so; however, I was truly wrong for assuming such things. The plane ride was more than 2 hours. The ride on the plane actually wasn’t too bad until my legs started to get numb and tired from all the long hours of sitting but I was glad that the ride taught me to be more patient.
As we arrived to the Hong Kong airport, it was a new experience that I knew I would soon begin after stepping out of the airport. When we got out of the airport, I saw many of my relatives from my mom’s side. They were very welcoming and sweet.
When we started to go and settled down in our aunt’s house, I noticed that English was not a common language anymore but the language Chinese was. It was kind of a new experience for me to speak in Chinese at all times to my relatives and cousins. I knew that it was going to be hard because I would usually talk in English most of the at home with my sisters and Chinese to my parents. This was something new that I was going to challenge myself by speaking in Chinese the whole time without the common language English that I was so used to.
The days we were in China brought much joy and new adventures that I discovered. The shopping centers were much bigger and had more variety of things to look at and buy. The villages that my family and I visited brought much learning experiences that I have never seen before and never knew about. The types of foods that we ate were very delicious and very yummy that I would go back for seconds. And of course, the time change was very new and different.
China was very different from America. The people in China were not as diverse but more to from the same ethnicity. After the trip from China, I had learned that though there were many differences, there were things that were similar too. The trip to China has brought to me a new adventure that I got to experience that week and a chance one day to go back to discover more.
