Mexico, Here I Come! - My Family Travels

Hello, my name is Daja Martin and I have recently traveled to Cozumel, Mexico. The journey to our destination was amazing. My family and I took a cruise ship leaving from Tampa, Florida. Docking the ship was a new thing for me being that I’ve never been on a cruise ship before. There was everything you could ever want! Food, games, water slides, casino, night clubs, so much to do.

Every day you would meet new people and see new things. Whether it’s at the bar, pool, or karaoke there is always a new face somewhere. The food on the ship is amazing; in the promenade they have food from a different nationality every day! Me and my dad would walk around the ship and discover different activities, talk and learn new things about each other. Waking up to a beautiful sunrise is a wonderful experience, it totally worked for me.”Good Morning Carnival Destiny!” is what you would wake up to from the cruise director Stephanie. I learned that a lot of work goes into cruises and the people that work on the ship have a lot of endurance. “Hello, Good Morning, Welcome” is just a few of the ways the crew of the ship would greet you. Even the may be aching and tired, they always manage to have a smile on there face.

The day we arrived to Cozumel was one of the best days of my life! A whole new country! The water was crystal clear, only a few clouds in the sky, just a beautiful day to enjoy. Mexico was beautiful, cobblestone streets, clay buildings built from the ground up. “Come in!” I heard a lady say as I discovered that they have a Ron Jon surf shop, and a t-shirt shop where we shopped and bought souvenirs for our family. Being in Mexico with my family meant so much to me. It opened my eyes to let me know that I can go anywhere and do anything I wish in my life if I put my mind to it. The Mexicans were so friendly greeting everyone as they enter the territory. This trip confirmed my mind set that everyone is the same no matter your nationality or skin color.

We enjoyed Cozumel while it lasted but it was soon time to depart back to our cruise ship Carnival Destiny. All of us were exhausted but no one wanted to stop having fun so I got ready for a deck party going on that night. The next day it was time to say goodbye to everyone and depart the ship. It was a great experience for me and I would love to do it all over again. In a word this trip was, amazing!
