Graduating from high school is a big thing. But what's even better is the senior trip that accompanies it. For my senior trip, me and my best friend since elementary school, Cassandra Dellate, went to the happiest place on earth, Disney World.
We were so excited we didn't waste any time getting started. We left for our trip just 3 days after our graduation!! We got on a plane all by ourselves and went all the way to Florida. It meant a lot to us. This was the first time either one of us had gone someplace major all on our own. Then low and behold, we arrive in Florida only to have a thunder storm hit. We were stuck in a parked plane for over an hour! By the time we finally reached our room at Disney's Pop Century resort it was almost midnight. We decided to just order room service and call it a night.
The next few days were crazy, wild, and packed with fun. By Tuesday night we had gone to every park at least once. We got to see the electrical parade and the firework show, Wishes, at Magic Kingdom. We got to watch Illuminations at Epcot literally illuminate the sky. And last but not least we got to enjoy Fantasmic at Hollywood studios. It was Cassandra's first time seeing it! My favorite rides are definitely the Rockin Roller Coaster and the Tower of Terror. Although I have to say Toy Story's Midway Mania is pretty awesome!
But even after all of that, the best part of the week still hadn't happened yet. The both of us had bought tickets to Universal Studios. We are HUGE Harry Potter fans and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal was a must see. So on Wednesday morning we hopped in a taxi and made our way to the park. Once there we headed over to Universal's Islands of Adventure. The minute we set eyes on Hogwarts we new this day was gonna be good. The first thing we did was hop in line for Ollivander's Wand shop, where I got picked for the wand demonstration!! I actually had my wand choose me just like Harry did in the movie!! Things just got better from there. We got to see the castle, ride Dueling Dragons, drink butterbeer, and even eat the great feast! Then we headed over to Honeydukes to by actual Harry Potter sweets! Then we bought our Griffindor Quidditch jerseys and called it a day.
The rest of the week basically went at a more relaxed pase. We revisited the parks and went on our favorite attractions. We made sure to collect all of the pressed pennies at the different parks. We did a little shopping at Downtown Disney and even had time to watch the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean. I think the highlight of our last two days was our dinner at the Rainforest Cafe'. We got to enjoy good food while actually feeling like we were in a rainforest! Finally, on Saturday, we headed home. Even though we had a great time we were glad to be back.
This trip taught us valuable lessons. It showed us that we can make it on our own. That we were responsible enough to take care of ourselves, and that we won't always need our parents. It also showed me that even the closest of people don't always get along. As much as I love Cassandra, I won't be spending to much time with her for awhile! This was a great experience. I can't wait to go back to Disney! But until then, I know I'm ready for college and for whatever else lies ahead. :]
