Okay, so I think after reading this you all might think this not true but all the details of this trip is a reality. It all started on 23rd of June my mom and I decided to go to Virginia to visit our cousin. We took a Delta flight at Hobby Airport, which was one of the worst mistakes ever. Why? Well because we couldn't get on the plane or get our boarding passes because we didn’t carry the card we bought the ticket with . We just decided to go home but my uncle was determined to get us on this flight so we called my grandma to go find it and she found it. We got on our flight and headed to Atlanta.
We reached Atlanta and just had enough time to reach our next flight to Roanoke, Virginia. My cousin, Anika, reached just in time to pick us up. We drove a hour to Lynchburg, Virginia. I met my cousins for the first time in 10 years Dionne, Dillon [Dionne's son], Michael David [Dionne's son], Janelle [Anika's baby], Carl [Anika's husband], and Janet [Anika's mom]. Later we all talked about all the stuff we are going to do, photo shoots, skiing, everything but of course that led to talking business about Janelle Beauty.
Janelle Beauty has been one of my cousin's companies for the longest, she provides people with natural products for their hair. She has always wanted to provide women with a way out of damaging their hair by making her products with things like peppermint, coconut oil, avocado oil and many other things of that nature.
Thursday came and it was one of the worst day ever. My little cousin died just out the clear blue sky. Dillon was only 4, even though, he had allergies it wasn't meant to happen. I thought the CPR my mom gave was helpful and the ambulance and first responders would have help but it didn’t do too much justice. I was so dumb founded when I heard what happened all I was thinking was no your lying he was fine just the night before, I had a conversation with him, my mom had a conversation with him, and he was one of the most outspoken person I ever met. His father was on a train back to Virginia from New York, he didn’t find out about his son's death until the last minute. He was so distraught that he wanted the whole funeral process to be over with he had the funeral on Monday of the next week. My mom and I weren't able to attend because of our flight arrangements but to this day I don’t know what he died of and its still a mystery to my mom and I.
Throughout this trip I realized that people stay and go but I wasn’t expecting this one to be so early. That’s why I'm learning to take the time out to meet all my family before I lose the opportunity to enjoy their company.
Being that it was my first time meeting Dillon is what hit me the most because what if we weren't there would he have died? Now I'm always questioning what's going to happen this person? Am I going to be able to see them in a couple of months? Family has become everything to me.
