Age 17, My First Time at the Beach | My Family Travels
DSC02740

I am not fond of traveling a lot. My parents never had the opportunity to take me out of town for fun. I have never been to Disneyland,  Knots berry Farm, Magic Mountain, Universal Studios, Golden Gate Bridge, or the beach. Everything changed when I turned 16. My older brother had the chance to take me to Pismo Beach for the first time in my life. It was a wonderful experience for me, if you can imagine.
One morning I got a phone call from my brother. We were talking and out of nowhere he asked me if I wanted to go to the beach with him and his girlfriend. I thought he was just playing with my feelings, but in reality, he was serious. Of course I said yes. I told my mother, not evening asking her for permission, and in less than an hour I was ready.
Now, we weren’t just going to the beach, we were going to camp at the beach. My brother and I aren’t the type of people who come prepare. We only brought his truck, blankets for sleeping, a little grill, and a lighter. We had no tent. When we arrived to Pismo, we saw all these people with their big RV’s and what-not’s. We didn’t care. Growing up the way we were raised, we enjoyed the things we already have in life.
As soon as we arrived to the beach, I ran. I ran and ran to feel the bubbly water of the beach. I have never experience something so wonderful and exciting like this.  I was so happy and full of joy.  I took a lot of picture and enjoyed what I had at the moment. The one thing I should’ve brought was a extra pair of clothes. I wasn’t prepared to get really wet.
We then went to the supermarket to buy our dinner. We had a little barbeque under the stars. It was really delicious. I also had smores for the first time in my life. I burned myself a lot. Note: bring really long forks r sticks to make smores. Forks won’t do much for roasting marshmallows.
After that, we sat on the beach and looked at the stars. I have never seen so many stars in my life. For the first time, I saw a shooting star, 5 to be exact.  Being at the beach was beautiful.  The tide got low that night and my brother’s girlfriend mentioned that there should be sand dollars on shore.
One problem: WE HAD NO FLASHLIGHT! This was probably the funniest part of my visit to the beach.  We had to use my brother’s cell phone, my girlfriend’s cell phone, my cell phone, and my camera light to search for sand dollars.  We still couldn’t get much light, but we still found cool sand dollars. I collected them all.
Then, it was time to go to sleep. Luckily I came prepare with a blanket. I slept inside my brother’s truck while they slept on the bed of the truck. The next morning, we took a trip to the town next to Pismo. It was really cool. Most places were just stores with unique stuff. We then came back. I took one last step into the water and collected sand from the beach into soda bottle. That soda bottle is sitting on top of stand to remind that I have to go back to enjoy the beach many more times.
